Great Place. I enjoy going to porters, it was the first bar I went to when I moved here. I met my husband there and we have been together for 13 years.

Lose the smoke and gain customers. Great music. Great value. Bring an oxygen mask though. We need a smoke-free place to dance in Louisville.

Smoke City. Ya gotta love Porter's. Yes, it has the feeling of a meat market on weekends. However, I met my executive husband there!! They still hire many local musicians, but they work them too late. After 2, they should just have DJ because it's all kids then and it's too smoky for any voice user. Tues night is "bop night" for swing dancers, lots of fun. This club also has generously hosted many fund raisers and has been a good neighbor. 3 clubs in one, 2 rooms for listening/dance and another for blues. 4 bars, easy to get drinks. Valet parkig cheap.

Big Fun!. I've been to Porter's quite a few times. I like the more mature crowd. The patrons and employees are friendly and there's music for everyone. Good place to go.

World-famous and Louisville-famous bands share the stage at this concert hall and cantina.. The Scene
With an emphasis on nostalgia in both its decor and entertainment, this is a sprawling playground for more mature clubbers. Three distinct areas within the extensive building feature live and recorded music designed to draw a demographic stretching from patrons in their thirties through their fifties. Porter's main attraction is the ballroom, a small concert hall lit by a vintage chandelier and anchored by a long, beautiful bar.

The Stage
Kris Kristofferson, Waylon Jennings, Rosanne Cash and Bo Diddley have all been featured performers, giving the Emporium an obvious country streak. Scores of rock, country, and dance bands play hits from the 1950s through the 1990s, and occasional swing nights brings in touring swing, rockabilly, and honky-tonk bands, so polish up those spectators and grab your zoot suit.

Meat Market. Jim Porters isnt a bad place if you like to go to a place that makes you feel as though you are in a meat market. It is impossible to meet someone of good stature there.

RickC. I had a chance to visit Jim Porters on the recommendation of our hotel porter. Being from out of town, I wanted to go somewhere for a few drinks and a good time. Jim Porters gave me them. The bands I have heard there were great and the crowd is a nice mix of people of different ages. I have been back everytime since that first visit 4 years ago and enjoyed everyone.
