Good place to go for drinks and live Music!. I have been going to PHT For almost 12 years now, and have had some positive good times, and some bad. You cant really classify a place as "not a good place to go" it all depends on how your experience was, and how the people there for that particular night appeared to be. Wednesdays are not a good suggestive night to go due to the 'bootay shakin' thing, and yes, they have all sorts of people that dress down right gross, but all you have to do is not go on the nights that they PHT has these events. Or simply go to another floor, away from the particular crowd you wish to stay away from.

The bands are well performed on stage, and I have met some of the members there. Stereo Deluxe, is a great band, and I would love to see them play there again! Friends of mine also play the Roof Garden and it's a lovely place to hang, and meet new people. It's not about picking someone up. It's about Social Events, and having fun! PHT has the best New Years Eve Bash In Louisville!! Hands Down. With many other events!

One last note before you go...don't check your coat in, you may not get it back. My friend loses her jacket every time we go. They simply have so many people there at times that they lose jackets, coats, scarves and things of the sort when you check them in, so be mindful of what you take in with you. They are not responsible for any lost items.

Have a good time, but remember it is still a Bar, no matter the occasion. Cheers! -=Osia=-

don't go unless you want to laugh your butt off at the idiots!. this place used to be classic! and when i say "used to be" i mean early 90s and before.

now it's a meat market for the overfed. if you like chicks stuck in the 80s, with the big hair, bad make-up, clothes four sizes too small for their rotund bodies and more muffin top than you can shake a stick at. if you like your guys like cavemen (undereducated, barely literate, questionable whether they should ever speak AND grabbing your butt, which applies to the females too, really) dressed in more "bling" than 50 Cent and you like seeing random stranger's underpants because their pants don't fit.

if that's your bag, you'll be in hog heaven. if not, MISS THIS PLACE WITH WIDE BERTH.

there are occasional promoted shows that are put on at Phoenix Hill as the venue itself is pretty decent with a good sound system and acoustics. if there is a band you like that is playing there, it will probably sound great, given they have their own sound people. the bar itself is very interesting and has a lot of history and there are several rooms for music that sound good, given the bands are good.

so...

venue - good

crowd - HORRIBLE!

Best place to go for live bands. Pheonix Hill has a great variety of people and music. They always have the best bands. I love the live bands, drinks, and the atmosphere.

Great Place to Go. This is a great bar. My husband took me there for my 21st birthday and we've gone every chance we can get for almost 3 years now. They have great live bands, and the bartenders know how to make one heck of a Washington Apple. Try one, you'll love it!

IT DOES MATTER....... PHT IS A PLACE TO JUST SIT BACK AND WATCH THOSE OVERLY DRUNK PEOPLE ACT CRAZY. COMPARED TO OTHER BARS...THERE ARE'NT ALOT OF PEOPLE DANCING, EXCEPT FOR A FEW PEOLE HERE AND THERE. I ENJOY GOIN TO PHEONIX HILL JUST TO CHILL AND CONVERSATE. BUT OF COURSE I GO TO PHT ON WEDNESDAY NIGHTS, SO THERE ARENT AS MANY PEOPLE THERE ON THAT NIGHT AS THERE PROBABLY IS ON A WEEKEND.

I approve.... I celebrated my 21st birthday with friends there because the historic allure of the place really had my curiosity peaked by the time I turned 21, since then it has become a regular haunt of mine and I enjoy everything about it, from the people to the music. I come from a small town so it's juuuuust red enough for me to get trashed and scream a lot without embarrassing my friends. Of course I dont go to any bar looking for dates but for a good time, I've never left disappointed.

(And they are really nice every time they have to kick me out for being unruly, so that's cool....)

I LOVE THIS BAR!!!!. Phoenix Hill is a great place to party and enjoy a lot of different bands! All of the different places to sit, stand, dance, and listen to live music. Rather it be from one of the great cover bands or from one of the bands their own original music. My wife and I really enjoy going to this bar and we have met some really great people there.

A singles scene and rock-and-roll playground wrapped up in one long-lasting package.. The Scene
It's already enjoyed a couple of lifetimes, first as a bluegrass and folk club in the 1970s and for the last 20 years as a rock-and-roll playground for college kids and young professionals.

The Draw
The Tavern is an old, rambling building that boasts four stages, often with a band on each stage at the same time, and a variety of touring and local talent; everyone from Steve Earle to the Ramones has held court in the main room. Upstairs, second-tier touring bands and local draws perform in the Roof Garden while acoustic acts stay in the small Taproom. In warm weather, an outdoor stage stays busy with reggae and the Tavern's huge parking lot is home to several seasonal events, such as chili and barbecue cook-offs. Weekends are noted for a plethora of hotties, both male and female.
