Had such a good time!.
It tends to be a young crowd, it gets crowded quickly, yes it gets hot in oh so many ways. : ) The wait to sing get long when it's crowded, but there is so much eye candy. It is fun just watching, some of these Kids are pretty talented.

Crowded, Sweaty, FUN!.
How could I have not known of this place, I've lived here all my life. My first time with 3 friends, we got there around 10pm there were only 20 or so people, but they had only been open 30 minutes. They open at 9:30 pm. By 11 pm it was crowded but we already had our songs turned in so we got to sing twice before 1am not bad considering how busy they were. The crowd was great, I have to admit I had just as much fun watching. It tends to be a young crowd but that is most places along the Bardstown Road Corridor. If I get a chance I will try and go on a week night when it's not so crowded and will let you know how it goes.

Never Will Return.
To celebrate the birthdays of two close friends, several of my friends and I decided to patronize Akiko's. We were very excited to sing our songs and gave them to the DJ. As we patiently waited to sing, we joined in the merrymaking and cheered the other patrons. However, two hours passed as we witnessed several of the same customers repeatedly sing songs. Finally, my friend and I heard our names called to sing. We went up to the stage, but were informed by a woman who had already sung that it wasn't our turn. I complained to the DJ that we had waited two hours to sing our song. When he asked what my name was, I informed him that it no longer mattered and waiting two hours to sing at a karaoke bar was ridiculous. My friends and I left Akiko's. I lodged a complaint with the BBB based on extremely poor customer service. This is not the first time that I have had a bad experience at Akiko's, but it will be the last.

Avoid At All Costs.
First time at Akiko's, and things seemed to be going okay. Then this girl and her friends came in, took the tables me and my friends were using. When we sat down at a different table she came over and said we had to move because her friends were going to be sitting there. I said we'd move when they got there. Then she went to the DJ and said we stole their table and that we were drinking their beer, even though they took our tables, where our beer was - which we honestly picked up off the table. The doorman came up and said we'd have to leave. I said, okay, but may I ask why. And he said it was because we stole someone's beer. It was ridiculous. I told him we didn' t do anything wrong, that there was no reason for this to happen. He threatened to call the police on me if I didn't leave - and I was in no way being beligerent. I tried to reason with him in the bar area, but he wouldn't be moved. I told him how unfair it was to throw us out without hearing our side of the story. I closed my tab, very upset that I was being treated so badly for no reason, and vowed never to return. It's a dump.
This is NOT a good local business. The door man is openly hostile to new comers, on a power trip. I was allowed through the door, and still treated badly. It's not this sort of club one expects to find rabid elitists and patrons who behave like entitled celebutantes. Everyone in this place was hostile to me and my friends. Other people I know have had very similar experiences. This place was just awful.

Go somewhere else.
We waited for some time and decided to go for a smoke. We talked to several ladies outside that had just got there and went right up and sang. We asked them how they did that and they said it was easy just give the D.J. a few dollars. So we just left. P.s. the door guy was a .......!!!!!!!!!
There are too many bars in Louisville to waste your time here plus it's small and hot.

Don't Bother (unless you want to be mistreated).
I had a HORRIBLE experience at Akiko's. It was my first time ever going there on November 28th 2008 and it was about 20 degrees outside. Me and about 5 of my friends went there to karaoke, we were all coming in the door and the guy checking IDs said, "You all need to shut the door!" In the rudest possible way. So we come in and we shut the door, standing in front of him waiting to get our IDs checked and he said, "I don't know why you all are standing inside when I haven't checked your IDs" This is directly after he told us to shut the door. So I guess he basically wanted us to all stand outside in 20 degree weather until he felt inclined to check our IDs. Then, he told ALL SIX OF US that we needed a second form of ID to get in when I had just watched him let everyone else in with one form of ID. I told him that I was going to contact the triple B. because he was basically discriminating against us and then I leave. He FOLLOWS me outside and asked me, "Do you want me to tell you why I do what I do?" Like he is the most important person living and I told him to enlighten me and he gave me some BS answer about how the bar would be f'ed if he let us in even though we ALL HAD VALID DRIVERS LICENSES SAYING WE WERE OVER 21!!! Then he proceeded to go inside and physically shove 2 of my friends and said "there are people trying to come in!"
I will NEVER go back there because of this power hungry door guy who has nothing better to do with his life than try to play god with people who have valid drivers' licenses and are over 21. I have never actually been in the bar, but I know I have absolutely NO desire to ever go back and I will contact the triple B because of this one employee who abuses his power and physically shoves costumers who are doing absolutely nothing wrong.

That first review.
That first review was made by the owner, or their son.
So, you have to take it as they're just hyping it up for you to go there. It really isn't that great.

Akiko's Louisville's Premier Karaoke Club..
If you like karaoke you'll absolutely love Akiko's. I have been to many places to sing but it is always kind of a side item. At Akiko's thats all they do 7 nights a week, you never have to call and ask if they are having karaoke that night. They have cheap drinks, note only beer and wine, and you'll have a great time. Everyone there loves to sing and are very supportive of newbies. See ya there!
