fun place, diffrent, good food.
My rating is for the same reasons as joe 6 pack. Gas is the only reason I don't go more often, I'm from Indianapolis In. I took some friends there after it aired on Flay show ,loved it, food good we waited but it was good, were going back, hope its still good. I read some reviews that its went down hill, hope it hasent. And yes it was pricey. But i'm going again. I well rate it again when we get back.
What I don't understand is there are reviews from the 90' or about the 90's and the home page says it was established in 2004 ??. Its been couple of years so we'll see.
Still Delicious and Different. I love Lynn's Paradise Cafe and I would give them a 5 star rating if I were rich or if gas prices were lower, but I have to calculate the price in too. I evaluate a restaurant on service, ambience, price, taste, quality, cleanliness and originality. 5 stars on everything but price, but when you're ballin' on a budget; price weighs in heavily.
a victim of fame?. Gone waaaayyy downhill. Food is bad, service is bad. Overrated and overpriced. Have a bloody mary and leave to get good food and service elswhere
How long till the name fails.
So so sad to see a Louisville establishment and practical landmark fall so quickly after its 15 minutes of fame.
The waits are long, but getting shorter, which is a good indication that your business is heading in a direction other than up.
The served food is really bland, greasy and underseasoned - but the dishes sound so much better on the menu, the classic diner with a twist feel, has lost its "feel" to just outright grubby, the plates and silverware look old and the glasses are so etched that you could be drinking from an antique - perhaps they are supposed to be.
Although butter is my second favourite ingredient after bacon, my palete just felt greasy after trying to enjoy a brunch here.
The service from the emo servers once added a "feel" here to - now they just add a "im pissed so many people come for crappy food still".
So disappointed with the change here - especially when newer and better breakfast and brunch alternatives are available - Wild eggs, Toast and Ramsis cafe to name but a few.
Im very surprised to think the owner believes that Flay would be impressed with any of the dishes presented to the paying community, producing a good dish with 2 hours of prep on a TV show is much more different than consistent production to people that pay to keep the establishment open on a daily basis.
The contributor from citysearch hasnt updated since 2007 and should really update their own review very soon.
A failing passion and loss of vision seems to be at fault here.
Not worth the extra drive.
We drove out of our way on vacation to visit this restaurant. Was not worth it at all. The restaurant was pretty cool looking but theservice was poor. We had no wait but the waitress was not very friendly. We ordered the food off the specialty menu. The food was not good and it was over priced for breakfast. I ordered the stuffed french toast and I wish I had gone to IHOP.I ordered 3 kids chocolate milks only to find out they charged me $3.50 a piece for the milks. That's more than what a kids meal usually cost.
Maybe a good local restaurant but just not worth going out of your way to eat there.
A favorite place to bring out-of-town guests. I love to bring people who are visiting to Lynn's as a unique Louisville dining experience. Most if not all people I bring enjoy the food and service.
It used to be about the food.
I remember in the early 90's going to Lynns. Back then, it was great and unique food which was well worth the wait (and even that wasn't long). But then Lynn became famous, got on Food Network, and now she's forgotten what a restaurant is about.
I went recently and I was just disappointed in the whole experience. Long wait in a crowded gift shop full of touristy junk. Then, we are shoved into a corner while depressed-looking servers dodge around me. The food was mediocre and on the level of any chain restaurant. The portions were smaller, the prices were higher, and the kitsch just got in the way.
I used to remember that the servers smiled more. Worst thing that happened to Lynn's is it became too popular.
Still crazy and great after all these years.. Lynn's has been one of my favorite places for years, but as I now live outside of Louisville I don't get there as often as I once did. When I had the opportunity for lunch there today, I found the ser vice to be attentive and the food still wonderful. Yes, the prices are up there, just as they are up everywhere these days.
...she ain't what she used to be.... I've been frequenting Lynn's for the last 15 years and it's been sad to see such a once-fab establishment sink so low. I remember the days of fresh on-site prepared scones and desserts, I remember the days when it was not at all odd to have Ms. Lynn herself stop by your table for a chat. I remember the biscuits as big as your head days. I remember the days when staff actually seemed glad to see people come in the doors. Sadly, Lynn's has sunk to the depths of pitiful mediocrity. I don't even bother trying to go there anymore when I'm in town. I know I'd just be out a lot of cash, out a lot of time waiting and would leave sad 'cause I remember it in its hey-day. So sad.
Food? Decor? Service? What's the big deal here?. Meh. Lynn's is famous for the decor and too-big-too-eat portions, but when you take that away you're left with slightly better than average cafe fare. My complaints are the service and the price. $18.95 for a really bad plate of Eggplant Parm sums it up. My last trip there for breakfast was nearly comedic -- while waiting for my order I drank the one cup of coffee I'd been served, I added sugar to the empty cup to prepare it for a refill and ... my server finally came by to see if she could take my creamer to a different table. I had to ask for everything -- to place an order, for silverware, for cream and sugar, ketchup, coffee refill, you name it. The only thing this server did offer to me was the check.
