Cheap Mexican food for the Highlands' late-night bar crowd.. The Scene
At first sight, La Bamba seems like just another fast-food chain with its plain red-and-green building and ordinary decor. Inside, Spanish-speaking cooks take your order, Mexican music fills the air and "burritos-as-big-as-your-head" posters adorn the walls. Although open for lunch, it gets packed after the Highlands' bars close and late-night revelers go for cheap, surprisingly authentic, Mexican fare.

The Food
La Bamba is known for huge portions and small prices. The limited menu offers burritos in three sizes--junior, regular and super--with your choice of refried beans, shredded pork, beef or chicken. A junior burrito will satisfy a normal appetite; order a regular burrito and you'll have enough to take for lunch the next day. Tortas, Mexican sandwiches with tasty meat fillings, avocado, rice or beans, are a meal unto themselves. For just a nibble, opt for the cheaper-than-cheap tacos or quesadillas.

The best fast food that nver tasts fast!. This place is THE BEST mexican retaraunt I have EVER been to!!! It is set up like a fast food place,with a drive through and everything, but inside it is compleetly different. They prepare all the food right in frount of you, and everything is extreamly fresh(I accualy watch them scoop out the avicado right from the skin for the guaimoli, it's not like the crap you get from Toco Bell that comes in a can). Becides that, you eat off real plates and everyone is so polite. And It's CHEAP!!!! So for all you broke students (like me) this is your best bet!
