Editorial Review for Pink Taco – by Martha Burr
In Short
Restaurateur and La Lohan-ex Harry Morton's hot pink hot spot is perched jauntily atop the Century City Mall. Tricked out with eye-popping kitschy Mexican designs, low rider bikes, vintage girlie pix and century-old wooden barn walls, the spacious room exudes a party hearty vibe. It follows its Vegas sister spot as a celeb magnet, and hosts a handsome young tequila-loving crowd. Popular Mexican dishes with a haute twist include signature pink corn tacos, filet mignon with chipotle mushrooms and tequila, lobster enchiladas and chile rellenos.

Insider Tips
Happy HourTake advantage of the daily happy hour from 3pm to 7pm, with select drinks priced at two-for-one.
What to DrinkThe bar's expansive tequila list offers an extensive premium tequila selection, and more than a dozen signature themed margaritas like the "horny bull" and the "Dirty Harry." There's also specialty sangrias, mojitos, martinis and Mexican beers.
Where to SitThe outdoor patio overlooking Santa Monica Boulevard is fun at night with its rock soundtrack and fire pits--it's also popular with the smoking contingent.

I can say a lot of good things about Pink Taco in Century City. Unfortunately, all of those good points are undermined by a fundamental flaw in the restaurant's concept. The good: Location, layout (including an outdoor patio), decor, service, and food are all amazing. I've had the lobster enchiladas twice. Excellent. Refreshing, new & unique versions of the standard Mexican food and decor you'll find anywhere else. The bad: The NOISE. "Alternative rock" music plays at dance club volume. The experience is like having dinner in the middle of a dance floor. We had to literally shout our orders to our server and he had to shout them back at us to confirm he got them right. One-on-one conversation is very difficult -- unless you can read lips. Group conversation would be impossible without lots of shouting. Pink Taco should decide if it wants to be a restaurant or a dance club -- it's ridiculous to try to be both at the same time. If the music volume were maybe 1/10th of the current level, Pink Taco would be a real winner.
Pros: Good food, fun & unique decor
Cons: Ridiculously LOUD music!

since there is nothing but the mall in century city, i walked around the mall every day on a recent visit. there were signs posted everywhere from pink taco saying that they have a daily happy hour from 3-7pm. we decided to try it out, on a thursday night, with plans of having the 2 for 1 drink specials and dinner. there was a small wait, and we had the option of sitting outside on the patio or inside. we didn't really care, so they seated us inside. when the waitress showed up at the table to get our drink orders, we each ordered 2 drinks, because the happy hour special was almost over. it was towards the end of the drink order that the waitress decided to tell us that the happy hour does not apply if we are sitting inside, only if we are at the bar or outside on the patio! had we known this, we would've told the hostess that we wanted a table outside! that should've been a sign for us to get up and leave. the service was crappy throughout... for a party of 5, we only had 3 sets of utensils at the table. the food arrived but the missing sets of utensils did not arrive until dinner was almost over. the napkins never arrived... and the food for 1 of the people in our party did not arrive until the rest of us had finished eating already! the drinks were ok... mediocre for a $10 drink, but i guess worth it if you get the happy hour deal. the food was mediocre also... nothing better than taco bell... but it may have been better if i got to eat it when it was still hot, but i couldn't since i didn't have utensils to do so. and i'm sure taco bell people would not have the attitude that the wait staff does at this place! overall a bad experience, and i would not go back again.
Pros: in the mall
Cons: service, food
