avoid – I will say that it is indicative of a pizza shop owner trying to open a fine dining restaurant. Poor food quality, tring to be presented in a high quality enviroment. I would rather eat a frozen diner.
Perugia in New Hartford Was an Awesome Dining Experience – We went to Perugia after seeing the ads in the paper and we were amazed we were still in New Hartford. Yes, the prices are higher than average for this area, but you get what you pay for. Their menus are well put together and thought through meticulously and my wife and I couldn't have been happier. We will definitely go back on our next night out. If you can't afford to do it right, then don't do it at all! There's plenty of cheaper places, fast food places, but there's no place better that I know of in the Mohawk Valley!
The food is not worth the experience... nor the price! – Three of us had dinner there a few weeks ago. I was not impressed (nor even satisfied) and would not return. I would have rather driven to Syracuse or Albany. From my perspective, this restaurant has become a place to go if you want to boast to your friends/colleagues about paying through the nose for pretentious service and quasi-enjoyable food.
SERVICE: The service was terrible and the wait-staff seemed clueless. Our table was empty for 20 minutes and even after we sat down, we had to ask two people for our waiter/menus and to take our drink order. Due to dietary necessity, a couple of us asked for "make-to-order" dishes and got burnt for it. We didn't get what we asked for and we were severely overcharged. The waiter had the audacity to argue (and raise his voice) and state that they were a "five-star restaurant". Definitely not a characteristic of 5-star service.
FOOD: I've dined at five star and even seven star venues all over the world. I am quite familiar with five-star service and food. I asked the waiter to be creative with my appetizer and he brought out a salad which was drenched in a cup of dressing. The lettuce was not fresh (browning edges). A simple salad is hard to mess up. The "freshly baked" bread came out cold, and after the appetizers. The entrees came out sporadically and some dishes were cold. The ingredients in my dish was nothing special. The protein was unevenly cooked, the red peppers were bottled, mushrooms were from PriceChopper, nothing special...
COST: Wrong prices. Oh, and the best thing was when we got our bill, the waiter automatically wrote in a 19% tip for himself. I thought a pre-set tip was customary for parties of six or more. I don't see this restaurant surviving too much longer with this level of attitude, quality of ingredients, and lack passion for ensuring customers enjoy their meals and experience.
