Specifically the chicken skewers... dark meat, chewy and disgusting. Sashimi was not fresh. Rolls were OK but could be fresher. Would not return.
Salmon Skin Rolls!. I love love!! their salmon skin rolls. Taka is a great guy also. Salmon is somewhat expensive, and many restaurants tend to put a little bit of salmon skin on rolls, but not Taka, he puts a lot which I like, and the prices are decent. I wouldn't say they're cheap, but hey for this quality, I am not complaining. They got some real good sake too, from cheap to the most expensive. Def check this place out!
Excellent sushi, very fresh fish!!!.
I was heading out to the movies and my friends and I needed a place close to the theater. I was skeptical at first given there were only 2 reviews, but we wanted to check it out. The Shrimp Paradise roll was one of, if not the best roll I've ever had. The clientele is mostly Japanese as another reviewer had mentioned and like he/she said, that's always a good sign.
The service was excellent and we'll definitely be back there soon for 5 star sushi!
Amazing quality. I honestly wasn't a fan of lots of types of sushi (mackerel, for instance) before coming here as a recommendation from a friend. This place is so much better than any other sushi place I have been to on Long Island, its a joke. Traditional Japanese food, sushi, sake....amazing.
A master of sushi.
Taka Sushi is a small hidden gem located in a strip mall in Westbury. You would never know, just by driving by, exactly how excellent this restaurant is. As someone who has eaten at many of the "reputable" sushi restaurants in NYC and LI, let me say that Taka is the only one I return to on a weekly basis. You know you are in good shape when most of the clientele is Japanese (and the daily specials as well).
Expect unbelievably fresh fish, regional delicacies, a huge selection of premium sakes (something that is very difficult to come by, wine lovers.try a premium cold sake and be amazed), and very reasonable prices. If you like sushi rolls, and traditional bento boxes....Taka's has those as well, but you would be doing yourself a disservice if you did not try more traditional Japanese fare. This is not your traditional salmon/tuna sushi place....you need to try things like Agi, Giant Claim, Uni and whatever Chef Taka has deemed freshest for any given day.
Call for a reservation on the weekends. Order the specials. Ask for Omakase. I could not recommend the food any higher.
