Unethical business. Back in December 2010, we contacted Roselawn to give us an estimate on a headstone for our father?s burial site. We gave them a photo of the monument we wanted but with a few modifications (We wanted etching on both sides of the heart,no rose relief,and for the stone to be 12 inches thick.

On 12/29/10 we received an email from (Roselawn) with a rough estimate of about $8,000 but they could make one like it for closer to $5,000. We were fine paying $8,000.

We met with Tonya on 1/14/11 & approved of the price quote but pointed out errors on the quote.The monument was to have a cremation block included. She said since it was her error they would include it at no additional cost. We also mentioned to Tonya the estimate was for 8? granite but we requested 12?. She made a phone call while we were in the office and informed us that the additional thickness would be $150 more. We had already signed the contract listing the total sale of $11,323. We were on our way to a funeral in Glasco, Ks and informed Tonya to draw up an addendum to the contract for us to sign.Tonya called us the following week to inform us that the $150 price (for 12? thick instead of 8? thick) was an error and the correct price was $900. We were fine with paying an additional $900 and informed her to go ahead with the addendum and we would sign it. The granite was to have been ordered the same date that we signed the contract, 1/14/11.

We made numerous phone calls and had several face to face meetings to discuss etchings, lettering and approval of the drawing and still no addendum. Beginning in May we felt like we were getting the run around because by then our phone calls were not being returned, scheduled meetings were being cancelled without a phone call, and when we would show up to speak with Tonya (on numerous occasions) she was conveniently not there or just left for the day every time.

We visited our father?s grave on Memorial Day and there was not a stone at his grave site as had been promised back in January. The following day I contacted Roselawn and was still not able to reach Tonya so I asked to speak with the owner of Roselawn. Diana Frobenius was not available but Helen took my name and number and would have her call me when she was available. When she contacted me she had me on speaker phone with Tonya present. The granite was never ordered. I informed Diana that we no longer wanted to work with Tonya and that we were extremely disappointed with the way we were being treated. Diana scheduled a face to face meeting for the following week. At that meeting, Diana was not available but had us meet with Chris Ward, Director of Preneed. He wanted us to sign a new contract and gave us a new estimate listing a total price of $20,794.41 ($9,471.41 more than our current contract). Chris implied that they were not going to proceed until they received more money. We had a contract for $11,323 and we wanted them to honor that contract. He said our contract was invalid bec

worst place ever. This place is a joke! Not only did my moms jewelry become missing, but the funeral was just plain horrible. Her make up didnt look anything like her, my mom was leaking from her nose and mouth. They promised all this help and discounts because of the horrible display that we as a family had to watch. Then some how our money that we were paying towards them just disappeared? To top off the matter we got a stone for 900 and they said we didnt pay it when we did. So they are charging us way out the butt for everything. This place is nothing but a joke and I will recommend you never go to these people. The display I had to see was unimaginable; the last thought of my mother was horrific. They ruined my mothers funeral, we thought we could trust them but they only lied. Tanya who is the ASSistant director, is the biggest two faced person there. She told us all these things were going to happen and they never did. She EVEN told us how much of a liar the rest of the staff was. And how these people who own this place have maids and how manipulative they are.

Yes they helped us a little but, they didnt do anything. Tanya was on our side when we were around. And then once we had left she only talked a bunch of crap. They removed my mothers stone because they said we werent paying. But that is bullcrap I paid in cash so I cant do anything plus I also live out of state. Anytime I have tried to contact them they ignore my calls they say they will call me back but they never do. I also had several things I had put on her stone; lights flowers angels. But when we went to go visit it was all gone. And her stone was never to be found, can you imagine going to see your moms grave for the first time in months only to see that it is gone? I paid for the whole stone two months after the funeral. Because I wanted it up for Christmas, I even remember the last day that I went in there to pay it off. Tanya shook my hand and said congrats you had paid off the stone.

I have not only contacted the state. But several lawyers, Im also contacting the news paper. We as a family didnt deserve this; we only wanted our mother to rest in peace. But now she is probably crying her eyes out in the heavens above.
