“For overpriced drinks and not a very good atmosphere, she should be grateful that there was anyone there in the first place!”

“Our server, Allie, was knowledgeable, sweet and attentive.”
“The portions are good and the prices are fair.”
Killer calamari. If you are going to Strega for the food, the key is to have a reservation and to go early. The calamari was possibly the best we've ever had, accompanied by a tangy marinara. The rioja was an excellent choice for a glass of red. I had the steak tips with sweet potato fries (you have to specify that you want the sweet potato) and it was outstanding. My friend loved her eggplant rollatini. Our server, Allie, was knowledgeable, sweet and attentive. The prices are very reasonable. I love Strega and will keep going back. Not sure what is up with the haters!
Double check your bill. I've eaten at Strega twice. In both cases, the food was very good, though a bit overpriced for what you receive. They were able to accommodate a low-sodium meal for an elderly guest we had with us. But that is the extent of the positive things I can say about it. The music started much earlier than we anticipated and was too loud to hear our own conversation. Our waitperson, Craig, overcharged us and when I brought it to his attention, he acted like he already knew about it but forgot to make the correction. Good waitstaff will check the bills before leaving them for their guests. I'm quite sure this was a deliberate attempt to overcharge us on his part. We will not be dining at Strega a third time. As a Salem resident, I had hoped we had a gem in town, but it may be a gem with greedy fingers. So if you dine here, don't forget to check your bill.
Strega Salem. The owner is a little strange, but it's a fun place to go and get a few drinks and dance.
Evil Valet Service!. Standard decent Italian for the N. End. Watch out for the valet!!! rudest people I've ever delt with. Had a reservation canceled, and they charged me $30 to get my car!! Spoke to the manager about it who said it was not his problem because they are a hired service and not hired by the restaurant... poor form. Held my car until I paid him an extra $10 because "drinks" didn't constitute being a "patron".
Editorial Review. Casual restaurant and cocktail lounge serves innovative Italian small plates along with hearty entrees of pasta, beef and poultry.
