Editorial Review for mr. BLACK – by Riva Froymovich

In Short
The trend of pretention has grown tired, and this underground lounge aims to resurrect a dear but long-lost cause--the uninhibited, free fun of music and dancing. A shadowy staircase leads down to the humble den, where the gay boy majority moves unabashedly to the nightly spinners' electro, dark disco and house. Breaks are had on plush banquettes in recessed spaces, and artwork hangs on rich wooden walls under vaulting and brick arches.

User Reviews for mr. BLACK

5 Star Rating: Highly Recommended

There are two nights of the week I like going to mr. Blacks. On Saturdays, it is very crowded and the music is very poppy. A younger crowd of 22-30 year olds dance and giggle. The club itself is very small and resembles a wine seller. On Sundays, the club is less crowded and there is a little more space to move around and seats are avalible. The crowd is a bit older 25-35 but the music is electro so you get less mainstream or "supper gay gay" crowd. You pick the night that is good for you!

Pros: The dance floor, the music, the space

Cons: some of the crowd can be a bit scary with regards to the people without clothes on!

The city is filled with great places to dance, meet people, and hang out with your friends. This is NOT one of them. From the moment my friends and I arrived, we were treated horribly. I will never return again.

Pros: nothing

Cons: rude staff members and an extremely unwelcoming environment

A Noho basement bar promotes pure dancing pleasure, reminiscent of the city's nightlife heyday.  See the full editorial review.
