As an 18 year member of Boston Sports Club in Lynnfield, MA (formerly the Colonial Club) it is very disappointing how this club has been managed since the Town Sport?s acquisition of the Club about 10 years ago. This is mainly in the area of Club cleanliness. The very expensive use of Town Sports stock holder equity was used during the past two years for the remodeling of this Club. This corporate construction project was very mismanaged. During the process, it would appear that over half of the existing members left this Lynnfield Club. I stay on to be with those long time friends who remain, and those Club employees who have become friends. There are still a half dozen of the areas best exercise instructors who have endured Town Sports.
Additionally, I have also joined the Peabody Lynnfield YMCA which offers me a regular comparison of what clean Club can be. At the Lynnfield BSC for example, the Men?s locker room the shower, sauna, steam, sink, etc. area floors are ?always? dirty for the past year and a half, with what appears to be a light film of brown mud, over the new blue tile. Soiled towels are irregularly picked up in the steam room. Mirrors in the exercise rooms are usually dirty, etc.
I know first hand, when Members do resign it is made to be very very very cumbersome, getting charges to be discontinued. In my family and from friends I have seen this experience, and it can be overheard at the front desk of the club on a regular basis. Town Sports is not about the customer.
- Pros: A half dozen great exercise instructors
- Cons: The Club has dirty men's and women's locker rooms for more than two years.
