"...American cooking to which all other restaurants aspire."-Gourmet

  • 4/5 Course Tasting Menu
  • Pre/Post Show Dining
  • Large Wine List

Located close to Lincoln Center, Telepan is a theatre-goers haven. Where, "dinner and a show" takes on new meaning. With an outstanding staff, Telepan has the luxury of providing each and every customer with a fantastic dining experience. Chef Bill Telepan has studied under some of the best chefs in the world, and will ensure freshness and quality with every bite you take. Four and five course prix-fix dinners (with and without wine) are available and extremely popular. Finally, our wine list is an attempt to bring to our customers wines that we believe are worth the extra effort to seek out and purchase. While the selections are accented by American, French and Italian producers, we have included many of our other favorite regions from around the world.

Editorial Review for Telepan – by Erin Behan

The Scene
Tucked into a townhouse, the bustling restaurant juggles a smartly dressed bar crowd with a dignified group in the comfortable dining room. At peak hours, the volume level in the green-hued space rises dramatically and service can strain under the load.

The Food
The menu makes every one of the regulars feel as if they're dining as a dignified gentleman farmer. The hen-of-the-woods mushroom topped with a poached egg makes a nice introduction to this fresh, countrified fare, as does the tender quail with a savory apple-balsamic dressing. The restaurant inserts a mid-course option, which contains more egg-centric dishes like the homey Eggs in the Hole, an egg sunk into a buttery slice of toast, and the comforting robiola tortellini, a fancy version of Italian wedding soup. Follow up with the cooked-just-right lamb or travel to the sea with the lemony parsley-coated sea scallops. Don't miss the sweetly inventive version of carrot cake.

Insider Tips

Know Before You Go

The $55 four-course or $65 five-course tasting menus are a great way to sample the menu. And the smaller portions allow you to make it all the way through the meal without completely stuffing yourself.

What to Drink

Though you can spend a pretty penny here on wine, the bright and fruity Pape Star from Kunin Wines in California is a nice choice in the $40 range.

The Extras

Still hungry after the main course? Try the Banana Tart for dessert.

We chose Telepan for the 4th of July. Believe it or not, we've found it a pretty good day to go to a good quality restaurant as a lot of people go out of town, or think of hotdogs or something. The food was very good: very good italian vegetable bread soup, very good asparagus, passable soft shell crab, good peanutbutter chocolate cake. The service was mediocre which is the usual here in Manhattan.

Pros: pleasant, clean room

Cons: no wow factor, too expensive

I was there for Brunch last week. The food was below average. With the price they charge for brunch, I can have a much better one at a lot of other places. The bread basket was good, which was the best among other courses. I had a salad as appetizer, which was worse than the ones from a regular deli. The root of the vegetables was not cut off!! Then, I had the saltiest soft self crab and the tasteless crab cake. My friend ordered the hanger steak. The steak was ok compared to other foods we ordered. But the spinach was way too salty. It was just a waste of money. I hope their dinner is much better than the brunch but I don' t think I'll return to try it. If you're looking to try this place, definitely skip their brunch. Brunch from a diner is better than here.

Pros: decor, ambience

Cons: food
