In Short – Located in Ball Square, El Guapo provides area couples and students with a casual spot for fiery Mexican fare. The large bar area can get quite noisy with crowds of margarita drinkers, and with over 100 seats, the dining area rarely has a wait. Familiar Tex-Mex fare (sizzling fajitas, huge burritos) dominates the menu, and there are lengthy beer and tequila lists as well.

This WAS the best restaurant ever! BUT it's space was taken by Sound Bites. I was so excited to see it listed here thinking maybe they just moved...but alas, number out of service. Posting this restaurant is just mean. :( I miss you El Guapo!
Brunch - FANTASTICO!!!

I first tried El Guapo's brunch because I didn't feel like waiting in line at Soundbytes, which is next door. I am so glad I took a chance on El Guapo! Menu items I've tried are delicious and range from standards such as omlettes and breakfast burrittos to authentic ethnic foods such as fried plantains and chilaquiles (a very rare find in the US). Breakfast entree prices range from about $5-7.
The biggest downside of an El Guapo brunch? Since no one seems to know about it, the place can feel deserted. However, I personally don't mind having half the restaurant to myself when I eat... it means immediate seating, no rush to finish eating, and great service.
My biggest fear in writing a good review for El Guapo is that someday I'll need to wait in line to have breakfast there.
- Pros: Menu Choices, Price, Fast Seating
- Cons: Deserted

I went to El Guapo for the first time last week. After reading some reviews I decided to check it out. The one thing that shocked me was the service. I read some people say the service wasn't so great but I disagree. My Waitress was so sweet and knowledgable. I asked her about the meanings of some the spanish words and she knew everything!! I also was shocked when the manager came over and asked if everthing was okay. No where does that, especially when it's busy. I had the Shrimp Burrito and it was sooo good. A ton of food!! My husband had the Carne Asada and he loved it too. We both had the especial maragarita and were surprised at how smooth they were. I will be a regular here!
- Pros: Service!!, Food, Drinks
- Cons: Parking
