yellow sub – Just because of all the terrible reviews, I must put in my word! Yes. This place does take a looong time. Yes. It doesnt look like all the subways and quiznos that Jimmy johns that everyone is used to. It's different. Their food is actually made there. Not in some creepy plant 200 miles away. And the food is worth the wait :) But Ill agree.. Don't go if you're in a hurry!
Yellow Sub, It's like stepping into a scene from half baked – Expect to wait and then wait some more.
No surprise though, once you walk in and witness the awe of these lethargic, red eyed, half wits. Half the crew stands around talking amongst themselves, as the other half look at you and consider approaching the counter to take your order.
Finally someone comes to help you. They seem to move and speak in slow motion, hardly understanding what you're saying as they press the keys on the register. Confused by it's complexity and pressing the wrong keys, this orders a bust. Call a coworker over to help figure it out. Ok, start over.. repeat the order, alright entered correctly this time, all is well.
Finally the order is in, I have my card and it's time to go sit on the rickety chairs in the front of the store for 30 minutes to contemplate how these people manage to function in day to day life.
This is all if you actually catch the place open! They have regularly changing hours of operation...
Now, should you chose the delivery option... wow. Good luck with that. They deliver to a very small section of lawrence. I could drive to yellow sub in under 5 min, and I'm out of delivery range, by one block. Too bad for them, I'm a really good tipper.
Since I've never been able to get them to deliver to me, I'm gonna rely on jayhawk11's delivery review to be accurate. Seems to match up to the in store experience and what I would expect if I could actually get them to drive the 5 minutes to my house.
I won't be returning...
If you do decide to go there, my advice is Call it in, wait 20 minuites and go pick it up... which is fine, but defeats the purpose of having a 'delivery' service.
Worst Service Ever – I call at 8:30pm for a delivery of a 6" sub and a 12" sub. I was quoted a 30-40 minute delivery time. I said no problem. I wait for one hour and called back. They told me that they had a new driver, (ok, i can understand that), he had 3 orders to deliver at one time, (probably too many), and one of the places he was taking an order to gave him the wrong address. Why can't I get my sub before the person that gave him the wrong address? If you have a new employee you should have another driver to compensate for his lack of experience.
I told him since I was quoted a 30 minute delivery time I was not paying for the food since it had been 1 hour. He told him that he would offer me a free 6 inch for next time. Remember that I ordered a 6" and a 12" sub. I would have accepted 1/2 off this order. The manager also told me that since it was already in the register that he could not change the order. We all know that is a lie. I am a manager in Food and Beverage, and this is the worse service I have ever experienced. He was as rude as could be. I will never eat there again. They could offer me a free year of food and I would turn it down.
