The staff conveyed the atmosphere of a small family run inn, rather than an impersonal motel chain. They went out of their way to make us feel welcome and accommodate our needs as a family.

We were only here one night, and didn't want to spend too much since we knew we'd be out of the room a lot. The room was very clean, and the bedroom had updated decor. The bathroom was small (only a stall shower) and somewhat dated. Since this is a motel, the window opens to the walkway so it's not really possible to open the curtains and also have a moderate amount of privacy. The hotel staff were very friendly and nice. There is a Trader Joe's about a block away and the hotel is a short walk from the bay and downtown restaurants, the convention center, etc.

The beds were wonderful and the desk clerk very helpful. The only thing bad was the parking. Very difficult to get in and out of.

Our room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and we were able to walk to the Custom House Garage (about 10 minutes) to get the bus in the morning to the race start. Also, we were just down the street from the Del Monte shopping center where there was a Whole Foods, a pharmacy, a P.F. Chang's, and other restaurants. I would also recommend The Wild Plum right next to the Denny's across the street from the Travelodge. It's a little expensive, but they've got a great veggie burger. Oh, our room had a mini-fridge, too, and was just down the street from a Peet's Coffee & Tea, and only a few blocks from the Convention Center for the Expo.

I've stayed at the Monterey Downtown Travelodge twice and experienced terrific, attentive service each time. The front desk staff is very helpful and efficient. The location is convenient and the furnishings and decor are the very best of any Travelodge I have ever seen.

I had mixed feelings about choosing this motel after reading other reviews here... but in the end i am really glad we did!! My family and i stayed for 2 nights and were very pleased! The room was nicely decorated, clean, and comfortable. The staff was very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. The breakfast offered each morning included 2 kinds of cereal, oatmeal, boiled eggs, fresh fruit, yogurt, 3 kinds of juice, toast, and a variety of muffins.

Overall this was a great place for a weekend getaway and we will visit again the next time we are in town :0)

Excellant accommodations! Rooms were Super clean! Breakfast was great. Felt like 5 star hotel. You CANNOT beat the price. I highly recommend the Monterey Travel Lodge.

Wow! While others in our wedding party stayed at fancy hotels we chose Travelodge for no nonsense value. It exceeded our expectations. The room was modern and clean with a nostalgic feel. The continental breakfast was very good. My family and I loved the hard boiled eggs and eating at the bistro tables outside. There were many folks from Europe and Canada staying there making the feel even more special! Trader Joe's and Wild Plum are great places close by.
