Screw Subway's $5 foot long! JJ is the way to go! – good ole days when I'd stumble into JJ's after bar hopping on Kirkwood....
I liked how the had atkins friendly sandwiches i.e. tuna wrapped in lettuce, very similar to In n Out's protein style burgers.
Also, they have by far the best oil and vinegar chips! mhhmm.
Sub shop's inexpensive sandwiches appeal to everyone from business lunchers to late-night studiers. – In Short
Jimmy John Liautaud started his first sandwich shop in Charleston, Ill., in 1983. After mastering his bread recipe, he garnered a fan base through low prices and delivery service. Now, locations nationwide offer Turkey Toms on French bread or Italian Night Clubs on seven-grain bread. While delivery is still an option at many locations, most customers order at the counter. Sit at tables or booths beneath signs proclaiming "Free Smells" and "Subs So Fast, You'll Freak."
Now that's a sandwhich! – With the rise of the "fast food" sandwich places trying to take over the landscape, I suggest you go out of your way to find a Jimmy John's. From the fresh bread, sliced to order meat and cheese, and the world's largest pickle, this is lunch done right. A variety of private label kettle cooked chips greet you at the order counter as well as a young employee wearing a sassy saying black tshirt. Avoid the strip mall/gas station fair... eat here.
