Founded in 1955, the retail chain has more than 8,000 stores in 35 states and offers health and beauty aids, milk, paper products, cleaning supplies and snacks at affordable prices. Typically located in strip malls and shopping plazas, the store offers both name brands and private labels at inexpensive prices. The company also takes part in the Dollar General Literacy Foundation providing grants to non-profit organizations to help people learn to read. Through the fund, computers and books have been donated to local schools and libraries.

Steer Clear!. I went in today to purchase some things for a company function. Dollar General stores are not the neatest as far as organization, but I found my items eventually.

While shopping, I had an employee rudely correct me on where I had mistakenly misplaced an item on the shelves.

After a 20 minute wait in line, they would not accept our tax identification number. I asked if I could make the purchase and bring back the form and the reciept to be reimbursed for the tax, but the staff was very rude and unhelpful. Frankly, I don't know if they understood what a tax identification number was or its uses.

I have shopped at Dollar General stores in my area and have been satisfied, this store, however, I would not recommend.
