We are Lucky to Have Starr Bistro in Cortland

by TMThor

I have never been disappointed in a meal at Starr Bistro. From the appetizers to the main course to the dessert, no detail is overlooked. I feel like I am dining in a big city, but getting that small town attention.

  • Pros: Every item is a special creation of Wayne Allen
  • Cons: not appreciated the way it should be

A good meal and the best Lobster Bisque ever!

by JayJordo

I have been to Starr Bistro on several occasions. They are expensive for Cortland but I have never had a bad meal there. If you actually live in this town you can appreciate that Wayne is offering a somewhat upscale dining experience without having to travel 30 miles. The lobster bisque is the best around! I have never had better! I get a bowl to go usually once a month. I also have had the NY strip steak, stuffed pork loin and the stuff chicken with ham and all three were very good! MMM the NY strip with the au jus and the provolone baked mashed potatoes, so very good. I would suggest trying them if you have never been.

And fish should be fishy, right?

Very very bad

Wow, I think I would have had a better meal at McDonalds. The mushroom pastry appetizer was very good to great, but it was all down hill for the rest of the evening. I ordered grilled swordfish, it was very dry, and over cooked and had an extremely fishy taste. Another person ordered the stuffed pork loin. It was more like a hockey puck. So hard a fork would not go through the meat. Nothing on the plate was eatable. The other two orders were OK, similar to what you would expect at an average Apple Bees. Four entrees and one appetizer for about $95. felt like we had been robbed.

  • Pros: no wait on saturday night
  • Cons: the food
