Tips for Mangrove Grill & Bar

SPOILED SEAFOOD / OVERPRICED - BEWARE. 4 of us visited the Mangrove Grill recently, and did not have a good experience. First of all we had to wait for a hostess for several minutes although there were plenty of open tables. We got the tuna appertizer and there were only 4 small pieces and some lettuce, for $10 I expected more. Two in our party ordered steak and two ordered fish. One of the fish dishes was definately spoiled, with a very stong odor and taste. When we brought it to the servers attention she said it was the seasoning. The tenderloin was not cooked properly and for close to $5 per ounce it should have been near perfect. The only highlight was the warm bread and pesto. Dinner for 4 with 2 beers and 2 glasses of wine, two appetizers and 0 desserts was $200.00. This restaurant is not recommended.

This restaurant deserves only great reviews. About one of the best restaurants I've ever been to, the Mangrove Grill restaurant is just that. The best... voted the best new restaurants in Florida and I believe that it will continue to Flourish. And talking about the service, I never had bad service, wether sitting at the bar due to restaurant being full and having no where else to sit, or being waited on by one of the better servers at the mangrove, Dominic, this restaurant has it all... I,ve had this server many of times and I can assure you he is more than helpful and very attentive to details. Don't discriminate until you have tried for yourselves. I give this restaurant a 10 because mainly the exceptional food but nontheless the service. I came accross this website and had to write review about it, and for those with bad experience give it another try. Trust me you'll get worst service at outback more often then the mangrove grill.....

Rude staff and management. My husband and I had a gift certificate and decided to take a night for ourselves to spend it. We were "greeted" by a rude waiter named Dominic who barely looked at us as he took our drink order. When he took our meal order, he had to come back to find out what it was my husband asked for. He didn't check on us, or seem to care what we thought of our food. He brought us our check and let us know we could order more drinks or desserts if we wished. I decided to have dessert, and he angrily replied "i'll bring you a menu" as if I was causing him an inconvenience. Once I ordered, it took longer to get the dessert than it did to get my dinner! A manager finally brought it out, and when he did, he literally dropped it on the table, threw 2 spoons out, and stomped away without responding to our "thank you". Then turned to the waiter and loudly said, "Don't they realize we're busy?" SO rude! I've never seen a manager with such an awful attitude, and I worked in the food service industy for 6 years. They were not the least bit busy, nor did I complain to anyone, although I should have. I will never go back, and will tell anyone who will listen not to bother either.

Loved Everything. I had dinner there last week (2.7.07) and was thoroughly impressed with everything. I had the Ahi Tuna Steak - wow! I am a very picky seafood person and was very pleased with the quality, color, everything. I have never had better tuna. We started the meal with a bunch of different apps, from the Carpaccio to the Blue Crab Claws, we practically licked the plates. Portions sizes are good and prices are very reasonable for the quality. Service was very attentive and the atmosphere was awesome. The wine list was another highlight. Great selections at moderate prices. Live music on the patio made for an even better experience. I would implore anyone to go the Mangrove, you will LOVE it!

Service ruined good meal. Four of us dined here in December '05. We were very pleased. Service was very nice, food was delicious, good atmosphere. It is a bit pricey, but a good dining experience sometimes makes you forget that!!

The same four of us tried again on Mothers Day this past week. We were very disappointed. To say the service was not up to par is a serious understatement. Portions weren't that great. It was just wasn't the same restaurant. Management needs to do some work here.

Overpriced, poor management. Seating was fast and friendly, seeing how there was only half the restaraunt full at 700. I ordered the tomatoes and mozarella, with the tuna and had all of 3 bites for about 12 dollars each. The food was good but the amount was a disgrace. The french fries became cold and soggy very quickly. the atmosphere was beautiful but i noticed around me, a group came for their birthday and had 8 people, they tried to seat them around one small patio table, the manager came out and didnt help the customers request, they caused a big scene and had to fit uncomfortably, therefore was not dealt with very well at all...

not worth it. The beer on tap is good and that's the best thing I can say about it. My catfish was in a grotesque sauce, but I ate it anyway since I was starved. Seven pieces later I was still hungry. There was no bread. No veggies to accomapnay the meal. Oh, there was that weird piece of bread under the fish - a sort of burned soggy thing. At 6:30 on a Friday we were one of only 4 couples in the dining room. My husband says his french fries were good. For $35 I'll go to McDonald's for fries.

World's worst steak. My husband and I both ordered the filet. I ordered the smaller portion and he the larger. First off we had to ask for our bread. The waiter was young and not the professional you would expect in a restaurant where your dinner is over $33.00. I ordered my filet medium, it came out well. The outside of both of our steaks was burnt. I could not tell you how the demi glaze tasted since the only taste that lingered in my mouth was burnt steak. I did not send it back. Our waiter didn't bother to check on us for quite sometime. Even Outback would have been better. I would say this place needs to hire someone that can properly cook a steak searing the outside, is not the same as burning the outside.

Great Specials. Went here on a recommendation while traveling through town... The food (had the Ahi tuna and pecan encrusted grouper) was fantastic, as well as the posh atmosphere and attentive staff. The view of the marina was beautiful as well as the comfortable outside patio. This is a relatively new resturant, but I am sure it will become well known, and a local favorite quickly!
