Go Small and Get it All (New Dishwasher).
Small business, that is. Tom's Maytag is a classic case of a local small business that beats the big guys and does it regularly. You should give them a try!
My wife and I just had a new Kitchenaid dishwasher installed. We had to wait a few days because it was a popular model that was not in stock, but the communication, scheduling of delivery and installation, and the actual install all went great. The installer was patient and took time to do some instruction, too. The new unit is very quiet and does a beautiful job on our dishes.
Tom's has access to the entire Whirlool product line. They don't carry a big inventory but can get products for you just as quickly as the big box guys, and their price is competitive, if not better. We first tried HHGregg who called the morning of the installation to say they had no dishwasher! Later, they brought one that was damaged which we refused. Their web site was inaccurate, and their people hard to reach. We asked for a refund.
We then went to Tom's and they took good care of us -- and their price was slightly cheaper than the HHGregg sale price, and way cheaper than Lowe's. They always answer the phone when you call, and it is someone you know because they are local and they are there. Give them a chance to help you and they will! We should have gone to Tom's first!…
Rude and Dishonest.
On November 10, 2011 I decided to purchase a refrigerator and stove from Tom's Maytag in Highland IN. I reside in Highland and always try to shop local. From the get go the saleslady was rude and
gave me the impression that she thought she was doing me a favor by serving me. I had to backorder my appliances because I wanted beige(they now call it biscuit) I was assured that the merchandise would be shipped at the end of November and I would have my merchandise delivered and installed by the first week of December. Well guess what? It is January 12, 2012 and still no delivery. I have called numerous times and get the runaround making it all my fault because of the special order status. When I still hadn't seen my by the middle of December I inquired once again about delivery and was told I would have it by Christmas but alas it got held up because of the seasonal rush. The same applied over New Year. Well hear we are and still no stuff. I called again today and was told next Wednesday was the day and that her delivery man just got out the hospital and that was another reason everything was late. Next it will Groundhog day, MLK day, Valentines day holding up delivery.
I travel with my career and the truth of the matter is that I will not be here then or at least the end of March. When I informed the saleslady(still very rude) she said you did not tell me you would be out town. I didn't and still don't see what business is that of hers.
I gave her the option of refunding my full payment or storing it until I return. Once again Miss Congeniality rudely said they will store it.
I don't know if this lady is part ower of the store or has pictures of the owner in a compromising postition, but if she worked for me she would be long gone. No people skills what so ever.
Between the rudeness and lame excuses I would not recommend Tom's Maytag to my worst enemy.…
toms maytag. excellent service and selection. one time, the element in the bottom of my stove burned out and they replaced it for free. they sold me my washer, dryer, and refrifgerator. i dont understand all of these negative reviews, but when you go to a place, dont give them a nasty attitude and maybe you wont get one back, duh.they dont owe you anything, theyre only human, and things happen that they cant contro,l just like the rest of us. be glad they are there when you need them, and shut up if you dont like it, thank you very much.…
Unprofessional.....
After researching dryers at the larger retail stores, my mom had her heart set on this smaller store feeling that she was getting a better price. I provided my card information back in April and
the total amount was immediately applied. My mother still doesn't have her dryer. She decided to phone and stated that at a minimum we should receive some type of discount because they were quick to charge my card, but we have been waiting forever for a dryer.
My mother was upset so I phoned the store. I'll save you the details and just tell you that the woman who answered was rude and unprofessional. She stated that they could deliver on Friday, but wouldn't give me a time for delivery. Wwhen I indicated that my mother had numerous things on her schedule for Friday this woman didn't care. She remained resistent to assisting me and I opted to cancel the order, but not before telling her what I thought about her customer service skills.
I recommend that you run, don't walk, to the nearest Best Buy, Loews, etc. and how unfortunate. These people give smaller businesses a bad name.…
RUDE is their Middle Name.
I'm looking to buy both a washer and a dryer. I decided to see if Tom's Maytag had a website. On the website I found three very poor reviews about them. Aside from the reviews I figured I'd at
least give them a call to get some questions answered. I talked to Amanda who wasn't at all friendly and I mentioned the reviews and told her that I hesitate to try them out because there are 3 review and all three are pretty bad. She said there is 1 review on Yellow Pages and it is a good review. One good review? I think she expected me to be content with that. I live locally to their Highland location. I asked them if I tried them out (despite the bad reviews) . . . if they would waive the delivery charge of $20 if I bought both a washer and a dryer. Amanda then said "instead of it being $40 delivery charge, it will only be $20". I then said "Delivery charge is only $20 to begin with, if local delivery, am I correct? I then said, "Both the washer and dryer would be delivered in one trip, am I correct?" and she said yes but it would be $20 delivery charge per item you buy." Okay this is nothing short of RETARDED!!!! If both items are delivered in one trip, there should not be $20 delivery charge for every item you buy. She was not nice, she was loud and condescending as I tried to make sense of this and repeated back how a one-trip delivery charge of $20 should not be doubled because you bought two major items. If I were to buy two major appliances, it should only be $20 to begin with because it was all to be delivered in one trip. Why charge for two trips when you are delivering in one trip.
Needless to say, they will NOT get my business. I merely made a phone call and they didn't even TRY to make up for the bad reviews they received. Amanda was rude and condescending and now I further believe those reviews I read. I was willing to give them a chance but we couldn't even get past the phone call.
Please people, do yourself a favor and just say "NO" to Tom's Maytag. Paying a little extra would be well worth not dealing with these people.…
