Located in the heart of historic Germantown, Germantown Cafe offers comfortable American cuisine at reasonable prices as well as a
fully-stocked bar and an amazing view of the Nashville skyline. Conveniently located just blocks north of downtown and the Coliseum, the Cafe is a perfect choice for a pre-game cocktail or a post-theatre bite to eat.
Germantown Cafe's kitchen specializes in straightforward traditional cooking with a subtle twist--but don't worry, there's no fusion confusion on display here. Whether you choose the delicious pork tenderloin with plum sauce, the coconut curry salmon, or the crabbiest crab cakes this side of Chesapeake Bay, you'll revel in the culinary confidence of their chef.

great service and atmosphere but bland food..
My wife and I had dinner this past Saturday at Germantown Cafe. The Cafe has a really intesting menu - a little bit of everything (that sounded good) plus some good southern appetizers (the fried green tomatoes were outstanding!). The atmosphere was "romantic" as advertized, the service was superb. Free valet parking was nice. Decent wine list and fair prices. Total tab for 2 was about $100 including tip.
However the main meals fell down from expectations. We had the grouper (catch of the day) and filet medallions. While presentation was good (of course - pile the main course on top of the veggie), they both lacked spice and flavor, frankly a bit bland. I think with a little more attention paid to flavoring the entree I might have given this place 4 stars instead of 3. Pass the cook the shaker!
Quaint, Romantic Restaurant. Although I dined here recently for for a business dinner, I plan on taking my husband back for a romantic dinner. The setting is cozy and intimate & the food is scrumptious. The menu items are intriguing without being boring or too adventurous. The service was fantastic (and I was there on a busy night). All of us at the table shared several dessert items, all of which were outstanding.
Excellent brunch - not so great dinner. My wife and I recently moved to the Germantown neighborhood and absolutely love it. We had heard many good things about the Germantown Cafe and have been excited to try it out. We had brunch there last Sunday and everything was wonderful - we were seated right away, service was excellent and the food was reasonably priced and very very good (she had the shrimp & grits and I had the steak benedict). We returned with some friends this past Saturday for dinner and again the service was excellent, we had a reservation and were seated right away, our server was attentive and the wait for the food was very short. The food itself though was a little disapointing. My wife had the much talked about pork which tasted great but the mashed potatoes with it tasted instant and not very good at all. I had the coconut curry salmon and everything tasted bland - the salmon was cooked perfectly but it was obviously farmed salmon and not very flavorful, not even the coconut curry sauce could give it much taste. The risotto served with it was also bland and seemed a little undercooked. After such a great brunch there and hearing so many good things we had such high hopes for dinner and were just disapointed in both the amount of variety on the menu and the taste of the food. I would return for brunch anytime but I don't know if we will return for dinner anytime soon.
A spectacular experience. Germantown Cafe was an all-around wonderful experience! Perfect for a first date, romantic enough for a fiftieth. The food was incredible (I would recommend the coconut curry salmon) and the view even better. I am not a Nashville native but this restaurant will bring me back a hundred times over! Bravo!
Simply Amazing.... Everything about Germantown Cafe is top notch. The service was quick, efficient and helpful and the food was everything we wanted and more. My hats off to Germantown Cafe...I will come running back.
Great Food and Service. I picked this restaurant for a special occasion b/c of the great reviews I have read. I made a reservation and specifically asked for a window seat. When they called the day before to confirm my reservation, I once again, asked for a window seat and I was told it was written as my request. My husband and I were both pleasantly surprised to see that they offered complimentary valet parking since it was a rather stormy night. When we entered I noticed the trendy atmosphere at the bar and was told our table would be about 5 minutes or so. After being sat at a table that WAS NOT a window seat ( I did not say anything since our table had somewhat of a view ) I was again pleasantly surprised at the dinner selections on the menu. My husband ordered the lamp chops (something he eats frequently at finer restaurants) and is always very particular about how they are prepared. He enjoyed them immensely. I ordered the salmon with a curry and coconut sauce. The waiter assured me it was not spicy at all and he was right. It was absolutely delicious. The risotto that came with it was very creamy and the asparagus and spinach sides were very complimenting. We both enjoyed the Key Lime Pie afterwards which was nothing special but nonetheless very good. Our total dinner with 2 glass of wine, 1 cup of coffee, 2 entrees and 2 desserts was $80. We would both return and recommend this establishment to others because of the complimentary valet parking, great wine selection, friendly staff, very knowledgeable waiters, great service and absolutely delicious food that was appropriately portioned. Both the wine and food menus were not vast, by any means, but they had a great selection of all types of food and drink. My only recommendation is that if you truely desire a window seat, you may need to remind them more than twice. However, some of the seating that is not directly against a window still has a view. Overall, we were very pleased with the Germantown Cafe.
Even Better Now. A local favorite, and with the recent renovations, the ambience is much improved (reduction in noise level with the expanded space). We have never been disappointed with the service and nearly everything we have tried has been more than tasty. Brunch is good but the dinner selections still prove to be the preferred offering from my perspective. The Plum Pork is absolutely divine!
Best Sunday brunch in Nashville. I have been a Germantown regular for several years now and it never fails to impress me. The service is top-notch, the atmosphere is comfortable and relaxing, and the food is absolutely delicious. You can't beat Germantown for Sunday brunch. The french toast (which changes weekly) is always delicious as is the omelet. You don't want to miss the little fried cinnamon-sugar biscuits either....scrumptious. During the week, it's great for lunch or an elegant night out on the town. The chicken salad and plum pork are two of my favorites. I can't say enough about how much I love this restaurant!
Wonderful Brunch. Several friends and I went here for brunch one Sunday and it was one of the best meals I have had. I ordered the Crab Cake Benedict and it was fantastic. The others ordered specials of the day and everyone loved their food. We also go an order of French Onion soup and it was superb. You have to like cheese though to enjoy this because there was a ton of it on their. The view of the city was beautiful and the service was great. I cannot wait to go back again and I am anxious to try their lunch or dinner.
Best Brunch in Nashville. My boyfriend and I ate there recently for brunch and it was wonderful. We both ordered the crabcake Benedict it was cooked to perfection. Their french onion soup is the best in the world, and their bread is like little doughnuts sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar. Great value, excellent food, and good atmosphere. highly recommend.
