Great date spot. My wife and I enjoyed a great date night in historic Germantown. Germantown Cafe was a great place to start the night before taking a quick drive downtown. The food first and foremost was the highlight. I got the Mahi Special with an excellent balsamic glaze and my wife (a vegetarian) got the Green Plate. Both plates had reasonable portions, were presented well and tasted great. The rolls were delicious. They reminded us of a funnel cake/donut and could be eaten for desert. Speaking of desert we enjoyed the apple pie/ice cream combo. The atmosphere was lively but not obnoxiously so. The trendy decor and the great view of downtown (which was especially nice as the sun set and the city lights came on) also added to the experience. On the mediocre side....our server was attentive but detached. Also, the salad was forgettable. Overall, a memorable date spot.

Hidden Gem. We celebrated our first wedding anniversary at Germantown cafe...we had a bright window seat. The service was attentive, the bread melted in our mouths. My husbands lamb was to die for. my food was good but nothing to rave about. We decided to skip desert and go somewhere else. We will definately return.

One of my favorite places in town!. Germantown Cafe is one of my favorite places in Nashville. Their Sunday brunch is such a special treat. The meal starts with their amazing bread that is dusted in cinnamon and sugar. Their fritatas are amazing, their french toast melts in your mouth, and the shrimp grits are insult-your-momma good! I love their pepper-jack grits that come on the side of most dishes for brunch. The last time I was there I had the crab cakes benedict with pepper-jack grits. The eggs were poached to perfection and the yolk was runny and yummy! I have also visited Germantown for lunch. I had the open faced chicken salad sandwich. After trying countless places for their chicken salad (most of them being too bland), Germantown did it right. The pecan honey glaze and fresh fruit make an ordinary lunch item, an extraordinary lunch item. I cannot wait to try out their dinner menu as I hear wonderful things about it. The service is AMAZING! Often the food arriving quickly. The wait staff is incredibly attentive without being overbearing. I definitely recommend Germantown Cafe!

Great Atmosphere. My husband and I just got back from dinner at Germantown Cafe and we had a great date. We had a great view of the city with all of the open windows. Adam was our waiter and he was fabulous, very attentive and polite. We started out with the fried green tomatoes and the baked brie. Both were delicious. Then we had our salads and bread. I got the plum pork, which was cooked perfectly on the grill, and my husband got the cajun shrimp, which he said had just the right amount of spice. Then we had the apple pie which was ok. Overall, our experience was relaxing and we really felt taken care of because the whole staff seemed to help out with refilling our drinks and taking away our dishes. I would definitely go back.

Consistently Wonderful. I have been dining here for the past five years and have never had a bad experience. The braised lamb shank is one of the best dishes in town. Period. The service is always on par and the prices are excellent. We are lucky to have such a humble and accomodating restaurant in Nashville. I think some of the more pretentious restaurateurs in town should have dinner at GC and take notes.

Best Brunch in Nashvile. My Husband and I love this place, great food, the brunch is the best in town. The steak and eggs and Crab cake pouched eggs over english muffins are to die for. They always have prompt seating, fair prices and great food. You will also love the mini cinnamon rolls they serve with your breakfast!

Great lunch spot. I went here for lunch. The food was great and the prices were very reasonable. I had the stuffed bread and my boyfriend had the pasta with lamb meatballs, both were delicious. We did however order an apple pie for dessert and it was sickeningly sweet so we had to send it back. Other than that the restaurant is really cute, with a great view of the city. I definitely recommend it for lunch and want to try dinner sometime as well

nice place. We enjoyed this place. Nice food selection, and inventive sides. Great wine list. There were some shady characters in the area as we were leaving but our actual dining experience was lovely

GERMANTOWN CAFE ROCKS!. Don't let the bad reviews fool you Nashville diners! Germantown Cafe is one of the best there is. I have been dining there for years and I stop in for dinner, lunch or brunch at least once a month. I have never seen a restaurant more consistent with their service, food, and cocktails. For the folks that think there's not enough flavor, have you tried the Chef's New Orleans Shrimp dish? It is one of my absolute favorites. It knocks me out every time! This is the fist time I?ve ever written a restaurant review. I felt the need to do so because I really love everything Germantown Cafe has to offer. I never leave disappointed. You should give it a try!

never again. It took the waiter about 30 minutes to get us our drinks. The salad was drenched and looked pitiful, as if it had fallen off a cliff, the lamb tasted like old goat, not lamb, the chicken prosciutto tasted mildly of fish ... in short one of the worst, .... no THE worst dining experiences I have had in Nashville in 4 years! I will never go there again!
