wonderful. MY VISIT TO THE RESTURANT WAS VERY NICE. THE FOOD WAS VERY GOOD AND THE SERVICE WAS ALSO. GOOD JOB!
A stunning view -- go at sunset!.
My family and I (6 adults, one child) went here at 8:00 PM on a sunday,
so the buffet was closed.
However, it meant that we were there for the sunset over the Pisgah National Forest,
which was stunningly beautiful!!! The food was good, but not what you remember. The server was a hoot -- very chummy and witty, and right on top of our orders. Overall, we had a great time, and I would recommend it heartily to anyone visiting Asheville.
Sumptuous buffet dining and stunning views of the Blue Ridge Mountains from inside the Grove Park Inn & Resort..
The Scene
Located inside the resort, this Arts and Crafts-decorated restaurant attracts both couples and families. A sleek and roomy bar leads to the main dining rooms, accented by deep booths for large groups and Roycroft lighting fixtures. A glass-enclosed terrace looks out to stellar views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Buffet service is prompt and efficient.
The Food
A full American menu is available, but the dining room is best known for its lavish buffets, including seafood each Friday. A wide selection, enough food to fill two rooms, makes up for the buffet's occasional failings. Large, tender peel-and-eat shrimp and sweet crab legs are worth the buffet price alone. Other winners: made-to-order stir-fry dishes and large, fresh sushi. Seafood entrees fare worse with shriveled mussels, bland catfish and tiny, overly fried shrimp. It's hard to make a mistake at the dessert table with creamy mini eclairs, rich truffles and a variety of cakes.
