Screwed me with a smile. I have never written a review about any place I have been in my life. My experience with Alberts was so bad that I felt I needed to make people aware of the shady business practices of this dump. My friend referred me here because he told me he has known the owner, Josh, since college. I figured they would give me an honest price and quality service based on this referral. I was sadly mistaken.

First you walk in and you notice that this place resembles a used car lot with better lighting. Then they try to get you liquored up. So I was expecting to work with Josh the owner since i had been referred to him and josh even told me that he usually would take care of me but he was busy and pawned me off to one of his sleazy salesmen. I figured out the basics of what I wanted and decided to come back another day.

When I came back, Josh still was to busy to work with me and pawned me off to an even worse saleswoman. When I asked questions like what is the difference between GIA and EGL they gave me answers like "we check the quality of every diamond that comes in here so it doesn't matter." This was typical for them to answer my questions like they were politicians trying to avoid an issue. Despite my reservations about how I had been treated I figured the owner would give me a decent price. I purchased the ring and had it sent to me since I live in Chicago and didn't want to have to drive back to pick it up.

When I got the paperwork i noticed that they charged me an extra $100 for a BS service plan that most jewelers will tell you that you don't need anyway. Then I look through the paperwork and they never sent me the diamond certification report. I called and asked about it and they told me they don't even have one on file and that it wouldn't come in for 2 weeks. The two weeks ended up being conveniently after the 30 return policy would expire so I asked for an email stating that I would have an extra 30 days to return the ring after I received the certificate. The sent the email and everything was in broken sentences like it was written by someone with a 3rd grade reading level. Now if I am going to purchase a $8,000 ring at least do me the service of treating me like you are a professional.

I went to another jeweler to get the ring appraised and they told me they valued the ring at $6000-7000, I paid 7800. Thinking the jeweler might be just trying to get my business, I tried building a similar ring at other stores and was finding that their price was consistently $1000 higher at least.

Since every single part of the process felt like I was getting screwed, I returned the ring. They gave me some BS about being sorry and wondered if there was anything they could do for me to get me to change my mind about the place. In all honesty, I will never walk into that store again even if they paid me to take a piece of jewelery.

BUYERS BEWARE, DON'T GO HERE! YOU WILL REGRET IT!!!
