Fox Lake >Zaza Italian Eatery
This truly was the worst dining experience I have ever had. We received our appetizers an hour after placing them, had to go up to the bar to get my own drinks, had to complain to managment that after 2 hours, we had only been served our appetizer and soup still waiting for salad and entrees. At 10:45pm with an 8:00pm reso, we received our Salmon Oscar, which looked wonderful until we discovered it was raw and mushy in the middle. We had to ask for our waiter 3 times before he came to our table to ask how everything was. Then just took the entrees away and didn't come back. We didnt know what was happening??? He brings us the check, doesn't ask if we would like coffee and dessert. He informs us his management took the salmon off the bill, but he had to charge us ala carte prices for the soup and salad (that came with the entree, not ordered ala carte). I was completely applauded! After 3 hours, and $18 for 2 cups of soup and 2 dinner salads I had given up. I wasn't even going to bother speaking to management again. This restaurant clearly cares about volume and not quality of service or product. Overbooking to make the most money you can for the night will hurt you in the long run. It was obvious that other dinners had similar experiences as ours. Maybe next time they won't be so greedy and take more reservations then they can handle.
Management is very unprofessional, actually said to me we're busy what do you want me to do? He said, "hey i can buy you a round of drinks or something" I replied I don't want a free drink, I just want the dinner I ordered in a reasonable time- not asking for to much am I???
Awesome food, service and atmosphere. The food is wonderful, Large portions, priced competitively. Always have a wonderful time. The staff is great.
Wouldn't slow down if I didn't know. Upon the reccomendation of two total strangers, we tried out this gem. . First off, we won a raffled bottle of Champange. Second the chef came to the table a couple times to tell us what to eat. vodka sauce with gnocchi, veal chops with a brandy cream, Twin South African Lobster Tails. I ate two shrimp for dinner (there were four on the plate and it was a good solid pound) The shrimp were from Thailand and are classified as 2-4 count - meaning that there were between two and four shrimp per pound. The wine flowed all night, the fireplace roared, $209.00 for four. Well worth every cent, in the middle of nowhere - - - make the drive and do your self the favor of slowing down to turn in and park. Should be Zagat rated.
Impressed. I have never tried food at any other restaurant as good as at Zaza's. Serers were very pasiont and understanding. We felt like we were at freinds house.
