A place I feel at home!

I started going to Blackwatch in 1994 with my brother to watch Our beloved Deutschland in the world cup. I grew fond of the place as I grew older, food is good during the day, traditional Pub fare. Now I am a regular during the week, I don't go as often now, as money is tight, but its a great place for me, what I do like is there' lots of regulars, and many new people who fit right in, Tattoo artists, Dart players, dancers, Hotel/restaurant workers, Claremont college kids, everyone fits it, the fri/sat bar girl, is terrible, but Autumn rules from Sun-thurs, and the day girl/s seem ok. nice, relaxing hangout.
- Pros: Bands on weekends, movie night on Sunday, Autumn the bartender rules!!!!!!!!!!
- Cons: The new girl on Fri-Saturday is not so good, oh well!

The first time I went to the Black Watch Pub was so many years ago to play darts once with a friend. This a is a great place for that by far!
Fastforward 8-10 years and My Band gets booked to play their. We are a band that does almost all originals. I have to say as a musician that I like this places integrity. We played for a percentage, and what we got seemed very inline with what I saw. After so many stories of friends that say that got ripped off at other places that were busy all night and then gave the band $60, This place was reassuring. The beer selection was very good, the prices reasonable, and the people very affable.
Now if you are reading this post before Oct 4th 2008, then come out and see us there at the Black Watch and see if everyhting I say isn't true. The band is Sugar Penny and I am a singer/guitar player in the band.
IF a couple of you show up I may by you a beer! (if a hundred do I can't!)
- Pros: Location, ample parking, good selection, reasonable price, friendly patrons as well as employees
- Cons: It would be nice if it was bigger!

Ive been there twice. I was realy looking forward to finding a lounge bar in the ontario area, because i generaly have to drive to LA to find a decient Bar...
the first time was pretty great except the fact that if people werent pumping quarters into the jukebox the atmosphere went dead as a doornail. a nice strategy to make money, but it was kind of anoying most the place seemed to be content to let me and my brother pay for the music all night.
The second time i went with my girlfriend, and aparently it was 'gay night' or something. Nothing but men holding hands and stuff, which is cool with us, gay bars are some of the best hang outs in LA. But we got a lot of discouraging looks here from most people for being the only straight couple. It was just a very unwelcome atmosphere so we were out after one beer.
The atmosphere is of a very worn-in pub. Not dirty, but its deffinetely been there a while. The second time we went they were sold out of most there taps, either that or they were trying to get rid of us. It was very strange the contrast between my two visits...
anyway, it seems to be the best 'lounge' bar in the ontario/upland area, but that may be because there is practicaly no competition. I doubt ill ever go back. I'd rather drive 45 mins to "The bigfoot lodge" where the atmosphere is amazing, and the service is always top-notch. The Black Watch is just not worth it. I dont go to pubs that often, maybe once or twice a month, so when i do, I want a great experience for my money. Guess ill keep driving to LA...
