It claims to be Thai, but I don't know what it tastes like – It's too bad, we read the good review, but unfortunately, our experience was not good. Service was ok, nothing great. Food was not good and actually bland--we could not taste any distinctive Thai seasonings in the food. They don't offer a lunch menu, which is a little odd. The ingredients for each dish were not fresh at all, and Thai food is known for using fresh ingredients and excellent herbs. Overall, a disappointing experience.
Best Thai on the North Shore (now named Siam Grill 88-under new ownership) – Just when my wife and I thought that great Thai food in the North Shore was non-existent, we found a Hidden Jewel in Middleton, MA right on Route 114. (242 South Main Street, Middleton, MA 01949 (978) 777-8298). The prices are good and the portions are large. The ownes informed us that they have only owned this place for 1 year, and did not change the name; they just added the number 88 to the end. Any review for Siam Grill without the 88 would be outdated.
The food was outstanding. We ended up eating there two nights in a row. The husband and wife owners could not be nicer. The wife turns out delicious authentic Thai dishes, while the husband handles the front of the house duties.
The starters are excellent. So far we have had the chicken ravioli, fresh rolls and two terrific soups. Their Tom Yum soup is the best that I have had. The Guay Teow Nam (noodles in broth) was great as well.
For entrees we have eaten the Pad Garpow, the Green Curry and the Cashew Madness. The Pad Garpow was so good we ordered it both times. The Curry was delicious and had a great spicy kick. The Cashew Madness was perfectly balanced with heat and sweet (pineapples). We cannot wait to go back and try out some of their seafood specialties.
Don't believe the other places on the North Shore that claim to be the best, because they do not come close to the quality of this place. The decor is interesting and will not win any awards, but the food should.
We have been twice, but already plan on being regulars.
