You'll remember the soup

When I was living in Biloxi back in '06, my friends and i stopped by Shady's one night for dinner. I was reasonably satisfied with the service and cuisine. The next time we went back, I had the Thai Coconut Milk Soup with shrimp. By far, one of the best soups I've ever had in my life! I must have gone to Shady's a dozen times over the next few months and that soup was always delicious. (I should also note that the crab rangoon, cheeseburger, and chicken-fried steak were also great).

Now it's '08 and I'm back. I went to Shady's last night with that soup on my mind and was not dissapointed in the least. Still a little spicy. Still delicious. Our server was a little slow in getting to us initally, but made up for it by checking on us at all the right times. Try heading there in the early evening on weeknights. There isn't much parking available but that shouldn't be an issue during the week.

Horrible snotty service

I have never in my life been in an establishment where the owners and management were so hostile toward their customers. I sent back cold, salty soup and all they did was microwave it. It was all yellow and burnt around the edges. They would not let me change it for something else and it stayed on the bill. The young manager was more interested in giving the bar customers back rubs and telling racy jokes than making sure our drinks were filled or our check given to us in a timely manner. We had to ask for everything we needed and she made sure to let us know that she was going to do it for us on her time, not ours. We came in for a nice meal. Not for dirty jokes and poor service. None of the other servers on duty even made eye contact with us. They looked absolutely miserable to be working there. I had heard that Shady's had good food, but poor service from several people so our expectations were not that high to begin with. I wish I could say that the food was worth the horrible experience. What a shame because the restaurant has an interesting menu with lots of options and a beautiful decor. Don't waste your time or money. You can get the same varied menu at the mall in the food court.

I have been to shady's numerous times. I always order the chicken pad thai. At a point I took a break because of bad service and bad cooks. But I went back to give shady's another chance. They informed me of a cook no longer working there. So I tried the pad thai again. It was great. So I made it a weekly chore to stop by there. Now today I go by there and it was horrible, I sent it back. To which the manager comes back and tells me that it is chicken pad thai, and that the cook says it is and that I will be paying for an item I did not eat whether I liked it or not. To me eatting there as much as I have would know what it should taste like. But I guess not. So watch yourself if you go here and eat. Very bad service.

If you like Thai, definitely eat here--the food is fantastic! Also try the Thai tea and Mango ice cream. The restaurant also supports the plight of the Asian elephant. Great Thai food at a globally-concious restaurant, what more could you ask for?
