Great beer, good food. My husband and I have eaten at Browning's several times and have found it to be very pleasant with a cheery, if loud, atmosphere, excellent beer and good food.

Our visit last night was fine overall, but there were several disappointments along the way. When we ordered our beers (mine was a Louis XVI Guillotine ESB and my husband chose the Fleur de Lis India Pale Ale), our waiter informed us that there was a problem with the tap, but that they did have those beers bottled. He brought us each a 22 oz. bottle (he did not pour the first glass, as I thought he might) and the beers were quite tasty. There was no adjustment on the bill, however, as I would've thought there might have been. My husband's beer was $6.50 and mine was $5, and as the taps were out, there should have been a discount.

I ordered an appetizer of fried oysters. The oysters were crispy and delicious and the remoulade and cocktail sauces served on the side were quite good, too, but the menu said there would be 6 oysters, not the 5 that we received.

Our orders came promptly, but my husband requested some mayonnaise from the person who brought our dinners (not our waiter), and that took much too long to arrive. He tried to get our waiter's attention which was being taken by the chatty large table next to ours. It did finally come, but by that time the bison burger had cooled considerably. It was cooked to order and still good--it's my husband's standby order. My stuffed meatloaf dinner was fine, but underwhelming. It was also wrapped in a bacon slice that could have used a blast from the broiler or possibly have been fried first. It was cooked completely but just seemed too soft and flabby. There didn't actually seem to be much in the way of stuffing but it was fine. My mashed potatoes and buttered peas are also fine.

I seem to have had better luck in the past sticking with Browning's burgers and sandwiches in the past, and will probably choose those again in the future.
