Most authentic Italian in Cortland
by passion 4 food at Citysearch
One must really love the taste of Italy, not what passes for Italian food around here. Fabio is from Italy, trained in New York City in Little Italy for years before coming to Cortland, lucky us. One must love garlic, and authentic high end flavor to appreciate. His menu is expansive for such a small restaurant. My relatives come from urban areas, my father in law is from Italy, and this is the only restaurant that meets his approval with so much authentic choice. Best kept secret? in Feb or March Fabio puts on a 5 hour showcase of his cooking talent with wine parings for each course of his own creations not on the menu. Usually $50 per person and you are guaranteed to bring home a shopping bag of extra even if you have a great appetite! Fabio's talent will know your socks off---but you have to really know good stuff and be an open foodie, not for the picky eater-stay home!
My family and I selected this restaurant for a special Frida

My family and I selected this restaurant for a special Friday night out before going to a play. We arrived at 5:30 and they weren’t busy.
We ordered a “Heart Healthy” Chicken Dish and it arrived in a pool of oil. The Chicken Parmesan dish had a funny taste to it. The marinara was brownish in color and flat, tasting like it came from a #10 can with very little if any doctoring and it may have been old. French Fries were very soggy and inedible. The Fresh Fish arrived soaking in a pool of cream sauce. The manager/owner wouldn’t come out and talk to us because he was cooking and would have to
wait 30 minutes to see him. Now is this the way to run a restaurant?
If the owner would take a look at some of the food mags out there he would see that the masses like fresh food without a lot of sauce/oil. Fresh food, I think not!
- Pros: none
- Cons: not worth the money
