Home cooking at its best
by genebrooks at Citysearch
This restaurant is well-known for its standing-room only breakfasts. If you go Saturday morning, prepare to wait an hour for a table. It may be even more well-known for its Friday night chitterlings. Yes, I said chitlins! Your choice, fried or slung and boiled.
I had wondered why my local civic historical organization (SCV) had such good food for their meetings. Then we had a meeting at "the caterer's place," the Old Motor Inn. My two-year old was overawed by the talking and Country-music-singing deer head as much as the cream potatoes swimming in butter, the lima beans cooked with pork, and the incredible baked BBQ chicken that fell off the bone. Man alive, it is some good cooking, but leave your cholesterol counter at home, 'cause between the fixins and the meats, not to mention the many desserts (I had the walnut pie), if you leave hungry it's your own fault.
- Pros: Great food. Right off (a mile or so toward town) on I-85 at Exit 202 (US 15)
- Cons: Saturday morning. Don't go if you're in a hurry. Too many people there.
