Terrible service - soot all over!

We used this service three times. Each time we were charged almost twice the original estimate. Never use this company! In Nov 2010 their hose spewed ash and soot all over our dining room and kitchen. It took 2 people, 3 hours to clean up all the sticky black soot!!. We asked several times for reimbursement for the cleaning. Mike Stephenson refused to reimburse us. He said a little soot goes a long way. He was very rude and condensending.

Dishonest

On 12/15/10 Mike Stephenson quoted me $149 to sweep our chimney, unfortunately I was unable to be home. However my husband was here for the work and informed me that the charge was $165. I called and left a few messages inquiring about the difference in price he has never returned my call. Wish that I did a bit more research. Much like the other review we were charged almost 12% more, no itemization on the invoice. P.S.It should have been a red flag for me when I called to confirm the appointment and he had all of my information incorrect.

Unreliable about appointments

Very frustrating - he kept changing my appointment to have our chimney cleaned. I finally went elsewhere.

Beware of hidden fees/taxes

I wish I'd gone with another company. In my opinion the owner's estimates are quite deceptive. I got two estimates but went with his company. As he was leaving from the estimate visit I asked him if it included all costs and he said yes but he wouldn't put any more detail in writing. Should you choose this guy (and I wish I didn't) be sure to ask for the total cost and a break down of the estimated costs (labor, material, and most important--his tax) before hiring him, otherwise, he will end up charging you an additional 12% or so in tax for the parts (?) He'll say the labor is free and tax you for the parts and won't provide the cost of the part that he orders. Who does this?! The good news is that he finished the job and the fireplace works. But I wish I hired someone who shows integrity.

The ole bate and switch

A group of our neighbors decided to have our dryer vent cleaned. We were quoted one price on the phone and charged a higher price. Their response: " Well you said there would be five of you and there was only four. Many businesses offer this service. Why go with this company!?
