Unpleasant experience.
My first experience at Bronte Bistro was awful, and unfortunately my second experience was no improvement. The first time I went I ordered the veggie burger and was disappointed to find that it was a warmed up Morningstar Farms frozen black bean burger that I buy regularly at the grocery store. The service was so slow that I had to leave my husband at the table so I wouldn't miss the book reading we came for even though we were seated 90 minutes before it started and still hadn't received our dessert!
I decided to give Bronte Bistro a second try, but again the service was very slow, and our waiter was surly. I ordered the portabello mushroom sandwich and the mushroom was so drenched in soy sauce that the bottom of the bun was soaked and dripping. It was probably the worst sandwich I have ever had. I love the idea of a cafe in a bookstore but will not be returning here.
Consistently disappointing. This was originally a nice place to eat but the quality of the food has deteriorated steadily. We have been disappointed the last two times we ate there and will not return. Entrees were tasteless and poorly presented, the peach cobbler was also tasteless and my husband's cake was dry and probably a few days old. The place also needs to pay attention to maintenance.
Crowded on weekends. Nice place if you're going to be at the mall anyway. Good salads with very tasty vinaigrette. Good vegetarian chili. Hamburgers only so-so. Chicken avocado wrap delicious somedays; dry and missing avocado others. My son likes the chicken potpie, but sometimes it is filled with what resembles day-before leftover veggies. Good coffee drinks and fruit slushes. Pastries so-so. Very crowded all day Saturday and Sunday.
AWWWW C'Mon!. This restaurant is a prime example of being great at first and then going WAY down hill. I have eaten the club wrap several times - mostly carry out. Today I got it and it had BACON BITS ON IT! Like out of a shaker. Well, I guess I have to find a new "stand by" - geeze!
