going downhill !!. been going to sam the clam for years, but it seems recently they are going downhill. went there today, i ordered the seafood saute, as i always do. it was about 20 bucks. it used to have 6 littleneck clams, cod, calimari, 8 sea scallops, and 3 jumbo shrimp........price was fair for this. now it had.......no clams..........no sea scallops.........only 2 medium shrimp, some calimari, and the smallest bay scallops i've ever seen...........definately not worth 20 bucks. i also got a bowl of lobster bisque soup, 6 bucks........used to have a decent amount of lobster meat..........not anymore, now it's just soup...............i don't think i'll be going back unless something changes............not worth the money anymore.

Service is terrible food prices are unbelievable.
6 of us went there last night we ordered 2 orders of steamers an order of calamari 2 lobster rolls and an order of fried scallops and we each had 2 drinks
THE BILL WAS $225!!!
They Charged $24.95 for an order of steamers, that was mediocre (kind of sandy)at best and was about 1 pound
Watch the prices almost all say MP for Market price
You get what you get. went to Sam's the other day. stopped in with a friend from out of town. Drunk lady put her hand on my friends thigh, looking to create some conflict and stir up her boyfriend. Embarrassing and potentially a problem. Sam's has a good burger, and seafood is supposed to be awesome. Just watch out for the townies.
Head bartender.
The customers come last unless your a reg sip'n on that red juice. Trust me you don't want to hang with that guy...
Head bartender is a ****.
Food is hit or miss....
They got bud, so 1 star...plus the rest of the staff is cool.
The Best Seafood Ever!!. Let me tell you. Yesterday was the first time my husband and I were there and we were satisfied and full by the time we left. I ordered the Lobster roll platter with hot butter and my husband had the scallops dinner. It was delicious!! We also had a Clam Strip appetizer. Very tasty food, generous portions and the prices were great too!! We will be back!
GREAT FOOD WITH GREAT PRICES. GREAT place for AMAZING affordable dining. I've been here on several occasion. I've tried many things and have enjoyed them all. It's a "hometown" place that is very inviting. If your not into stuffy dining and like social serves and want a few laughs to go along with a great meal this is the place for you. You can indulge yourself in an array of fried seafood or if you are counting calories they'll make you a delicious grilled chicken wrap. I've had many "special meals" made that aren't on the menu. They are accomodating to all taste buds. Ask and you shall receive. Stop by and give them a try.
Don't Go Here!. Consumer Beware this place is extremely racists. The restaurant staff openly spoke words of hate and discrimination while we were there. They spoke against african-americans and latinos with threatening words. They said we should be hung and burned. We had to leave because we were so scared. This was the worst discrimination experience I ever had!
Very scary experience!!!!!.
We had a very scary experience a couple days ago. On Monday night Nov 10th, 2008 we went to eat at Sam the Clams 1303 Meriden Avenue. Southington, CT 06489. Phone: (860) 621-0522. While we were waiting for our food, one of the employees was talking with other customers about how they felt about our President Elect Barack Obama. Shortly after we got our food delivered to our table, the same employee began shouting out that he wished "They never stopped burning and hanging black people..." I should mention he began shouting this and many other comments towards our table after one of the customers pointed us out sitting nearby. Once he (the employee) took notice of us, he began getting even louder and apparently very agitated. He continued making further comments such as, "I'd love to burn "color'ds"... I'd burn them all and everyone with them..." and many other violent comments. No one made him stop. Instead, other employees and customers engaged themselves in the behavior. It appeared as if the employee that was yelling out the violent comments was the restaurant?s bartender. There were 4 or 5 customers sitting at the bar, and I only noticed one other table of customers aside from us in the restaurant.
We immediately asked for our check, I wrote a note stating I refused to pay the bill because I felt verbally threatened by the restaurants? employee, left $00.00 in both the tip/total payment areas, provided my cell number should they want to reach me to discuss and my signature. Then, we left.
We reported this to The Attorney General Richard Blumenthal, who has explained to have zero tolerance for such behavior.
Yumm. This place has the best lobster rolls and lots of yummy seafood. But it's all fried, so if you're fat and love unhealthy food (which is probably why you're fat! duh) then you'll love it here. But don't forget with that huge plate of fried, fried, and more fried food, order a diet coke. That should help!!
