In Short – Founded in Oregon circa 1953, this simply-furnished spot owes its success to its creative menu and fresh ingredients. Batters are made on the premises; a special "sourdough starter" keeps treats from tasting overly sweet. Patrons choose from eggs, waffles, crepes and oven-baked omelets, as well as signature plates like blueberry pancakes (served with or without compote), giant cinnamon-glazed apple pancakes, thin and chewy "49-ers" and the air-filled, lemon-and-sugar-topped "Dutch Baby."

When was the last time you great pancakes?

If you have not this place is worth the drive. We were on a business trip recently staying at the Hyatt and this place - on a snowy Sunday morning - was a dream. It had energy, even though it is located in an office building off the street; it had the goods - wheat germ pancakes were out of this world! The service was even better and the experience such I have not had in an American breakfast eatery in 20 years.
