Love it!. Great Bison, planked salmon is fantastic (with the best horseradish sauce ever). They do have a strange salad, nice greens with a burger on top -- that was strange. BUT great service, wonderful atmosphere and fast to seat you. Onion rings are great, they make these fries with chili and cheese that are equally delish. I wouldn't go there for a steak…. the specialize in buffalo for cryin' out loud!
Great food and service. I've eaten at Ted's many times over the years since I've discovered it and never had a bad experience. The food is almost always cooked to order - mistakes can happen anywhere once in a while - and the service is excellent. Although if you go during the lunch rush, you may have a wait in line and then a long wait for the food, depending on what you order and how well done, but that's true at any great restaurant. Their rolls are great, but you have to ask for them as they don't bake many. Sometimes a server may forget something, but that's usually only during the lunch rush, etc. and, having been a server in another restaurant myself - although that was many years ago - I can understand that so no complaints here. Bison is not cheap anywhere, so don't expect them to give it away. If you're looking for a $1 maybe ground beef, maybe soy burger, your best bet is to go across the street from there to a certain fast food restaurant. Their bison is way better than what I've been served at a certain other chain restaurant with the initials RT. I especially like Ted's salads - expensive but way more than I can possibly eat so I get my money's worth. And my experience has always been unlimited refills on sodas and tea. The restaurant is great with the quotes on the walls, the music is fitting and the bison on the wall is something - kids can make you laugh with what they have to say about it.
When End of the Bison was I eating?. They serve bison at Ted?s and they?re really proud of it, too. They?d probably be prouder if somebody in the place would learn how to cook the stuff so it doesn?t taste like roadkill. Yeah, yeah, bison (buffalo) is supposed to be better for you than beef?and it probably is?but in order for it to be good for you, you?ve got to be able to choke it down and I couldn?t get that ?bison burger? past my lips. Oh, and if you order onion rings, better order again because I got 4 of them with my burger. 4 onion rings. No wonder I felt something stick me in the back when I got the $31.04 bill?
Great experience. I've only been once and I'd likely recommend it based on my experience. The bison burger was great. The server was outstanding. Can't wait to go back.
Thumbs Down. This place was an OK burger place about 3 years ago. Seems they've lost whatever touch they had. The last couple times I was there the burgers were sorta overcooked bison. If you keep an eye on the bar you can see them sloshing the beer glasses int heir filthy bilge water filled sink. Look out they will serve you your beer in that. I got the filthiest glass of beer there. This place is now a greasy spoon and I wont be going back.
Best Bison in Nashville.
After reading some of the other posts concerning service at this restaurant I was more than a little apprehensive.
I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. Our server, Terry, was very attentive but didn't hover, he made excellent menu suggestions and kept us taken care of all night.
The food was wonderful!
Starting with the crab cake appetizer I have to say I've had crab cakes at numerous restaurants around the country and these were some of the best I've had. Large chunks of crab just a hint of chili pepper for a kick made these quite tasty. As a side note, if you like spicy you'll love the guacamole that comes with the crab cake which has diced jalapenos as one of the ingredients!
We had the beef Del Monico and the Bison Del Monico to try some of the specialties (a bottle of Sterling Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon is an excellent complement to the meat). Both were cooked to perfection and the butter seasoning made the meats quite flavorful. The mashed potatoes and gravy were wonderful and the steamed asparagus was just right (not too soft).
We closed out with the Kahlua Chocolate Brownie which finished wonderfully (the wine complemented this too!)
In closing, a good meal, good service and a recommendation to give this restaurant a try.
BAD SERVICE, HIGH PRICES FOR BURGERS. I had never eaten at TMG but my friend wanted to try it so i went. first of all the hostess sat us in the back facing two Bison's one on the wall and the other sitting in front of us with her pants hanging down showing her "hidden valley". it took at least 20 minutes to get our appetizer and when i finally got my meal it wasn't even cooked right. it was like they left the meat on the grill of 5 SECONDS tops. the waitress kept forgetting what we wanted and she was taking other people their orders even though we were there before them. i was so upset at my experience they made me another burger and i had to take it to go. and when i got home it still wasn't cooked right. i will not be going back there any time soon. the only thing positive about this place is leaving, and Maggie Moo's next door.
Okay Food + Bad Service = Never Going There Again. I just wanted to try Bison for the first time after reading about the meat and the restaurant. The Biason actually tasted alright. The service was so bad it didn't matter how the food tasted. There are too many restaurants in Nashville's West End area to patronize one with bad service. We constatly had to remind the waitress about everything from condiments to bringing the yeast rolls... she was so bad it was funny. My meal was cooked ok. My dinner companion had to send her meal back. Overall, we will just drive past Ted's Montana Grill next time and eat down the street. Oh, there was one good thing about TMG... it's next door to Maggie Moo's Ice Cream - we had good food/service there!
Not Very accomodating!!!!. I have been a frequent visitor to MTG in Tallahassee. I have found the service to be good until one recent visit where the waitress told my husband he could have more than 1 refill on the arnold palmer tea after he questioned her about it and told her he would take reg. tea if that was the case. They ran out of turkey and dressing at 2:00 on the turkey and dressing special day. My dressing was about 2 tablespoons full with dark meat turkey they managed to find after the waitress told me they were out and I couldn't find anything else on the menu that I really wanted. The manager and waitress were nice but could have been more accomodating for the price they charge. Wonder if it is worth it for me to go back to one of our favorite-maybe not any more - places to eat. I am a culinary arts teacher and know quite a bit about the service of restaurants and thought the service was way down on recent visit. I had actually been thinking about bringing my class to MTG because so many of my students never tasted bison. Thought it would be a unique experience. Maybe not!!
Families and large groups feast on hearty cuts and comfort food at this Rocky-Mountain style steakhouse..
Lots of mahogany, tin ceilings, metal crown molding and Arts and Crafts-style décor prevail at this casual, comfortable saloon, part of media mogul Ted Turner's domain. Beef and bison are king, and they're hand-cut on site. Other bites include beer-can chicken, bison prime rib and cedar planked salmon. For dessert, there's home-made cookies, Kahlua fudge brownies, Coke floats and strawberry shortcake.
