“From my experience, the service has been more slow than anything, but I attributed that to how busy the restaurant usually is.”
thai for cheap!. I should be a VIP customer at this place, because I go there so much. It has very tasty Thai dishes for really cheap (less than $7)... My favorite dishes are the barbeque chicken fried rice, pad kee mao, chicken macaroni, pad see ew, garlic shrimp rice plate, continental fried rice, pineapple fried rice, and the spicy shrimp fried rice. I know that's a pretty extensive list for my favorite dishes, but this place is THAT good. Plus there's a live band once a week... AND big screen TV's so you can watch the latest Lakers game. The place gets pretty crazy on the weekends, and the waiters can be kind of neglectful, but it's a nice place to go for a big group. Also if you plan to order dessert, get the banana egg rolls with ice cream! IT's delicious!
best service, food and price ever!!!. I love this place very much. I started come to this place last summer. I love everything about this place..the food..the server...and of course the price. I've been to another thai restaurant but i never satisfied with their food and prices, but in banana bay I got everything. Many people said the service isn't good, just want you guys to know that when the first time i came there I had that thought also but after the second..third...and so on now I know that some of the most of the waitress are nice as long as you nice too, but I also found some of the mean one..but still it can't change my love to banana bay.
Good Food and Good Prices Overcome Bad Service. On nights when the cover band isn't playing the atmosphere of Banana Bay is like a high school cafeteria . . . that plays Norah Jones and Rod Stewart (American Classics). The noise level is pretty high, and there is little to no privacy. Most of the seats are arranged like a cafeteria, but if you're lucky you might get a booth where there is some privacy. Once seated you'll get one of two services: bad service or okay service. I've had both. This restaurant serves a lot of people at once, so don't expect 5 star service. But do expect really good food. My favorites are the Crispy Chicken Hainam Rice, BBQ Chicken w/ Fried Rice, Pad Kee Mao (Noodle dish), Paradise Duck Curry, Pad Thai and the Gulf of Siam. Not only the food, but the prices more than makes up for the lack of service. The average price for a dish is around $6; that's the price of a double quarter pounder meal at Mickey-D's. I would recommend this place to anyone, especially if you're bringing a big party. Word of advice: There isn't a waiter designated to your table, so if you want prompt service grab anyone in uniform.
Great Thai food. This place has great Thai food, but terrible service. My bf refuses to come here with me because of the bad service, although it doesn't really bother me because they have such good food at such low prices! The food is good- I def. recommend the BBQ chix fried rice. However, the servers can take forever to take your order, bring your drinks, etc. The only thing they're not slow at is bringing you your check! If you don't mind bad service, then you should definitely come here. If you hate bad service, don't come here or else you'll have a terrible experience and you'll leave with smoke coming out of your ears from anger.
Great Tai Food. This is a nice place. Very large with TV's everywhere and a beautiful fish tank and sometimes even a live band. It is a little loud there but nice. Food is Wonderful. Fantastic Tai food. They have super big servings and at a very good price. Fast service and staff was ok. They were not too friendly...perhaps because we were not asian. At any rate it was nice.
Not the best but GREAT PRICES..and really fun place.
I've been going to this place for awhile now. It's great for big parties and you usually get seated pretty quickly even for large groups. The menu is HUGE and everything is CHEAP. The food isn't the best but there are some dishes that are amazingly good for the price it's being offered, you also get BIG portions.
The only drawbacks is that the place gets a little too loud when there's a live band, although I enjoy the music it makes it very difficult to hold conversations without yelling at each other.
As for the service I already knew that the service was going to be poor - it's an asian place what do you expect? I am Asian myself and I know that authentic asian restaurants are notorious for having poor service. They often forget orders, and don't refill drinks but that was to be expected anyway.
For the price you pay, its all worth it. It' really is a FUN place to bring large groups of friends!
The Manager Told Us Never to Come Back. The manager told us to never come back again... not that we were planning to. We've been here multiple times and although the service was poor, we kept coming for the food and price. However, today the service was exceptionally bad. We had to flag down waiters to take the order, they never refilled our drinks even when asked, and they gave us dirty looks whenever we made a request. For example, they brought out a crock of tom yum soup (meant for sharing) without any bowls for sharing. When we asked for bowls, they gave us two (although our table had 8 people). We asked for additional bowls and waited for at least 10 minutes. We then asked two more individuals and finally received them...though we did hear the waiters speak disrespectfully about our table in Thai in the seating area (too bad they didn't know one of us understood Thai). Afterwards, they charged us gratuity although their menu stated that gratuity is only applied to parties with 9 or more people. We refuted that act since we were very dissatisfied with the service. We paid and left seven cents tip (because that was what the change came out to). We headed towards the parking lot and the manager followed us out while screaming at us. She gave back our seven cents in change and kept on yelling. She did not listen to any of the feedback we had about the service and told us never to come back again.
Best Modern Thai Food in So Cal.. This is the best Thai restaurant in So. Cal. The atmosphere is great. The food is exceptional. The price is right. The place is very friendly for family or young couples. Seating is prompt. You won't have to wait an hour to be eated. I won't go anywhere else.
Great food for little money..
Me and my husband have been going here for a few years now. This is the only Thai resturant we'll go to. No other place we've come across compares. The food is great and it's cheap. If you don't order any alcoholic drinks you'll be expecting to pay under $30.00 for sure. The crab balls are an excellent choice for an appetizer. And the chicken and mint leaves (comes with noodles or rice) is my favorite dish. Minty and spicy is a good combination.
The menu has over 100 choices. There's always something new you could try.
The place does get a bit crowded on the weekends, but they're open late.
SouthEast Asian at its best. The food was very very good. I go there pretty often, and would order anything from curry to noodle soup to rice. Everything I have tried turned out really good. Anything with Duck in it is just delicious. Though, it can get noisy sometimes.
