Pizza - not that good – I see they they haven't change since 7/29/08. Beer was good but after that forget it. Expensive and not worth the stop. The other GOOD reviews must have been written by the owners.
Not that great – A friend highly recommended this place but we were very disappointed. The pizza was mediocre and certainly overpriced for how it tasted. The cheese sticks were average at best. The atmosphere was very loud and wasn't easy to carry on a conversation. Our waiter was slow and borderline obnoxious. If we had to do it all over again, we would have went elsewhere. I won't be back.
Best pizza, customer service and family friendly environment around – This is the best pizza experience we have had in years. We have lived and visited all over this country and this stands out above them all. There is absolutely something for everyone from a bar on all three floors to an arcade and then a large screen tv with couches for game fans while waiting. To top it all off we had dinner for 4 with ALL the extras from appetizers, salads and more for under $50. A must go for anyone.
Bad mozzarella on pizza, great beer! – My first visit to Mosse Jaw was about two years ago. They used the freshest ingredients on there pizza and there dough was incredible. The beer is always out of this world as well. Unfortunately, the last two times over the past year they have decided to go with a cheaper mozzarella on there pizzas. The cheese is gooey and has a snotty texture. You can always tell if a restaraunt uses nasty cheese because it will have this snotty feel and look to it. This is unfortunate because I know people that have stopped going there because of this. My wife and I will not be going back for at least a year. Too bad, they used to have great pizza.
Simply put, this log cabin-style brewpub and pizza joint is the most popular restaurant in The Dells--and with good reason. – The Scene
The simple formula works to perfection--great pizza, plenty of beer and games for the kids. This huge log cabin is three noisy floors of dining and drinking. The beer brewers are on the top floor with a balcony view of the main dining area; the second floor is the loudest with the most seating; while the bottom floor features more dining, an arcade, pool tables and dart-boards. Despite it being a micro-brewery, Moosejaw still manages to be over-the-top family-oriented with most tables occupied by a three generations from grand-parents to grand-kids.
The pizza comes with a thin crust and a tangy tomato sauce, while toppings vary from the basics (pepperoni, sausage and veggies) to the more creative (taco, fajitsa and barbecue sauce). The beer and cheese soup is a must-try, with slices of sausage for added flavor.
User review by jjguetsh – Unfortunately we didn't discover Moosejaw last trip until we were on our way home. The food was wonderful, the service was about the best we ever had and the atmosphere was fun. We will definitely eat there at least once on our next trip - probably more!
Tasty and fun – Moosejaw has some of the best homemade pizza I've ever had. You have to try their beer as well. Start with the sampler--they have a great collection of dark beer. You can also take some home. However great the beer may be, when we visited Moosejaw was a family place, with lots of kids screaming, kicking and throwing things around. And you can count on Moosejaw to always have treats for the kids. So if you're looking for a quiet, romantic place where you can sit for a long time, this is not it. If you're looking for a family place with great food and drinks, Moosejaw is just the place for you.
Bad Experience – After driving 4 long hours, my family and I were all starving and Moosejaw looked like a very nice place to dine.
The food was good, the resturant was clean, comfortable, and very out-doorsy. But the service was beyond horrible!
Being servers ouselves, my mother and I generally give people the benefit of the doubt, but our server was really bad!
We ordered the moosewings as an app...they were VERY good! But not 5 minutes into them we were given our soup. Not 5 minutes into our soup, our steaks were pushed at us. Before we were half done, she asked us if we wanted anything else. We were rushed out of there 45 minutes after we sat down! To top it off, we asked for our moosewings to be wrapped and she threw them out AND THEN still charged us for them.
We will NEVER go back there again!
