Impressive!. Overall great experience. Received a gift certificate for Christmas and decided to upgrade and make a full day out of it. Once I arrived I was very impressed. I was treated as if I was the only client there. Everyone was extremely helpful and friendly. Great team at AME. I already scheduled an appointment to go back and get a facial and massage in a month. At some point I do plan on getting my hair done there...the people who walked out after getting their hair done looked great!
Too bad for the person below me!. I have been an AME client for years and have referred many of my friends and family there. It is too bad the people below me have had "bad experiences." The staff is very friendly, very knowledgable, and talented. A year ago I had a large bridal party at AME and was concerned with timing due to the amount of people in my party. To my suprise, we all got out of AME right on time and looked absolutely smashing! Everyone in my party got updo styles and make-up applied with not one single issue. Because of my amazing experience and my amazing stylist, I have two friends that will be using AME for their weddings as well. I will be in the wedding and can't wait to use Kelly for my updo again!
HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. Horrible experience. I never write reviews for places, but I felt this one was warranted. I went to AME Salon and Spa for golden highlights, and showed colorist two pictures of what my OWN hair looked like with golden highlights I had in the past, which should have been easy... I have gotten many highlights in the past and never encountered a problem. The colorist COMPLETELY DESTROYED my hair with a BLEACH based dye which she then put under a hot dryer. I could literally pull my hair where it had been dyed and it would stretch and break off. I was so upset that I didn't even want the colorist to do a corrective toner; I didn't trust her to touch my hair again. To make matters even worse, when I was explaining to her how unhappy I was, and how the bleached-out-practically-gray look was not what I was going for, she tried to tell me that it's just how my hair took color. As someone who's been getting highlights for 13 years, I can tell you this isn't the case. That's when I got up and walked out. I told the woman at the front desk that I was leaving and not paying for what had been done, to which she said that she would have a manager call me to rectify the problem (she still hasn't called...) When I was driving home I drove past John Andrews Salon, walked in (and this is not a "walk-in" salon). The owner, Alex, sat with me and calmed my nerves by explaining to me how we could fix my destroyed hair. The staff at John Andrews was nothing short of amazing, and my hair, although completely destroyed from Ame's colorist, looks so much better because of Alex. I would never recommend AME Salon and Spa to anyone, not even my worst enemy. Colorists like the one I had give a bad name to the profession. I'm not naming names, which I very well could, but I don't want to ruin her career because of one mistake. I do however, blame AME Salon and Spa completely for hiring someone who is so obviously clueless when it comes to coloring hair and listening to a client's wishes.
BESTT EVER!!. They have great service. They emeployes there are the best and the sweetest!!!! They do great hair and they have an AMAZINGG spa. I recommend this salon and spa in the largest amount!!! I love how sweet everyone their is and its a great enviroment!! very relaxing!!
NAIL FUNGUS. I had made an appointment 3 weeks in advance for a speciality pedicure. The pedicure was supposed to be 15 minutes more than the basic pedicure, but I waited 15 minutes and the service was only 50 minutes. She left me while I soaked for like 10 minutes and then did a choppy job with my nails. The paint job was smudged and I asked to get it fixed and the technician, who had moved on to her next client rolled her eyes before she quickly fixed it. To top it all off, I have a nail fungus in my big toe now, and that was my first pedicure in 3 years BECAUSE i am nervous about cleanliness but was reassured that they disinfect their equiptment thoroughly. I called to complain and left multiple messages and the owner never bothered to return my calls. NEVER AGAIN.
Skip the waxing!!. I had my eyebrows waxed at Ame. I should have listen to the previous reviewer because, for $22 I must have paid for the location. For $8, those Vietnamese ladies at most nail salons do a neater and more professional job. When I got home, I had to pluck out my own stray hairs, and my family and friends said it looked like there was no difference. :( I plan to give the salon another chance with a pedicure another time.
Gained points with my wife thanks to a spa gift certificate!.
I got my wife a gift certificate at the suggestion of my daughter. My daughter has nothing but wonderful things to say about this place so I hoped my wife would like it. She wanted a new look and certainly came home with one, and I think she looks great. (OK she is helping me write this!) She says Brandi did her hair cut and color and made her look years younger. Kathryn did her manicure and pedicure. Now she wants a new ring (just kidding). My daughter told her husband what a "good idea" I had and he called me for the information.
Guys out there-she is so happy I had to write this. I usually use this site for restaurant reviews and she told me I had to write this review too!
Fabulous haircut- leave feeling pretty!.
I have to say I have never been loyal to a stylist ever- I am a reformed Supercuts girl- but after I received a gift certificate for my birthday last year, I went in for a cut and color. My stylist Heather did an excellent job with the color- it was my first time going darker and I was thrilled. I left feeling twice as attractive as when I went in, and that's what it's all about, right? I have since not gone anywhere else to get my hair done!
Also got a pedicure that was excellent last fall too!
Good hair... HORRID Makeup.
Ame was highly recommended to me by several people for hair and makeup for my wedding day. I recently went to do a "run-through". The woman who did my hair was good. She was patient and willing to try a few different things until we came up with something I was happy with. She even knocked off some $$ because it was only a trail run. However, when it came to make-up I was seriously disappointed. After telling the girl twice that I want something soft, subtle and feminine, she gave me heavy dark brown eyeshadow (I am very pale skinned, blonde hair and blue eyes), unblended eyeliner that looked like two solid lines on my upper and lower lids, foundation that didn't match my skin tone at all (it had a lovely orange hue on me) and uneven dark blush. I didn't get see the finished product until she was done, but I was speechless when I looked in the mirror. I went home and immediately washed my face.
I am going back for my hair on my wedding day, but I would never go back for makeup.
Worst Massage Ever; Beware of Eyebrow Wax.
I am an experienced spa attendee, having received over 100 massages from over 20 different spa facilities. This was by far the worst massage I have ever had. The masseuse appeared to be a newly-converted nail person, because she was also responsible for my pedicure that still was not dry 4 hours after I left the salon. But back to the massage. I purchased a 90 minute massage, and almost told the masseuse to stop during the first 15 minutes. She had obviously been trained in the "techniques", but had no awareness of the muscle structure she was massaging, because the techniques were often applied incorrectly. Add on to this that she did not have a smooth and calming approach (tended to do things very quickly, no fluidity in transitions from one movement to another), and I wanted to jump off of the table. I will admit that she was better on my legs and feet, but my arms, neck, head and back suffered greatly during the 90 minutes I was being massaged.
I also had a disastrous eyebrow wax. The technician was very quick, and in her quickness, she thinned out one eyebrow enough that I now need to use an eyebrow pencil (something I have never needed) so that the end of my eyebrow doesn't disappear and appear off-balanced with my other eyebrow. Additionally, the technician did not wax the bridge of my nose evenly, and now my eyebrows are lop-sided.
After returning from my spa afternoon, and realizing the fate of my eyebrows, I called the salon to apprise them of my experience. They apologized, and promised to get back to me within 1/2 hour with a solution. I never heard back from them.
I will NEVER return to this spa, and will not recommend it to any of my spa-loving friends.
