Good time for all. I have played there 5 or 6 times now and have never had a issue with getting payed what we were told. The stage is large and the sound is good. Lots of room for a active crowd. I would recomend the trip. We come from as far as st paul. Different people, different expierience i guess.
This dive is not worth the drive.
What can I say about Froggy's...well, it's kind of a nice stage with decent sound and light systems. Drinks are pretty good and priced fair. The only thing that's not fair, is management's flip-flopping ways for paying bands.
We were told we would get paid a specific amount, which made the drive from the west part of the Twin Cities aalllll the way (about 1 hour and 25 minutes if I recall) to Pine City. The bands performed, and then were told that we would get $20 per band. PER BAND!? We could've stayed in the metro and gotten more than that. After debating and arguing for 30 minutes, we were given enough to cover our mileage and about $5 extra for our time.
We could've been out of there by 1am...but the manager talked our heads off until 3:30am. In a way it showed they were nice, but come on! We had an hour and a half drive a head of us and you just stiffed us on our payment. Do us some courteousy and let us leave. I seriously ended up getting home after the sun came up. Had the experience not been so horrible, getting home that late wouldn't have been so bad.
It was nice that we were asked to come back and do more shows (and called repeatedly for it), but why waste our time driving so far, to play a hole in the wall bar in some little town and get absolutely nothing out of it?
If you live near Pine City, definitely check it out. If you're a band from the Cities, DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME!!! You're better off playing at Club Underground or some other hole in the wall bar in the metro. You won't pay so much in gas, and you'll get paid more.
