The Scene
During the first half of the 20th century, this was the getaway where Chicago's elite came to see and be seen. The inn still maintains its pastoral setting that made it a favorite retreat for the wealthy. At the same time, it's just 30 miles north of Chicago, making it ideal for city holidays without the city madness.
The Details
The inn's exterior is modeled after a 15th-century Tudor inn, while the interiors offer the pleasant warmth of light oak wood furniture and walls painted in gentle hues. The bedrooms are named after National Trust properties in England. They have been individually decorated, and yet all invoke the dream of a noble birthright. Guest passes are available to neighboring Lake Forest Beach. Several golf courses, including Kemper Lakes, are nearby. Historic Market Square, the United States' first planned shopping center, is within walking distance.

this place is great for weddings, the neoghborhood is great, and the town is very quaint. Go there for a weekend in the summer for a break from the city and walk to the Lake Forest Beach...bring a picnic...that is truly a great day.
