Good Sushi, Reasonable Prices
by konstantine11
I absolutely love this place! My dad and I have been coming here since I was about eleven years old, and I have continued to go here ever since. My dad has been to many different countries, and different parts of the United States for his job and he always orders sushi wherever he goes. He says that this is one of the best sushi places he has been to because all of the fish is very fresh and although the prices are not the best, they are definitely reasonable. There are always new and delicious items on the menu to try, and the specials are extremely good. Their rainbow roll and their crazy roll are very very good. I have been to more "high-end" restaurants with a worse quality of sushi. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who likes sushi or Japanese food in general.
Delicious!

I've been to this restaurant several times both on my own and with friends, and the sushi has always been fresh, delicious, and relatively reasonably priced. The daily specials are fun and varied. Being Filipina-American, I was a little worried after reading the review regarding the offensive racial comments, but thankfully no funny business has showed up on my receipts. I hope they learned something from the poor review they got previously.
- Pros: Ample parking, quiet atmosphere, even when the restaurant is crowded you can usually find a quick seat at the bar
- Cons: A little pricey for the amount of food you get, though this is about average for sushi
The restaurant with racial profiling

My friends and I went to Hayashi Japanese Restaurant
in Gurnee for dinner on Friday night. When we were
about to pay, the manager said she already included
the tip in the bill. We asked her why the tip was
included without our consent. She said that there are
some customers only leave 10% tip for dinner instead
of 15% so they have decided to include the tip from
now on. Then I said, "So the tip you charge me here,
is it 15%?" She said, "No, It's 18%." Then I said,
"Is this the new rule you just started today? Cuz I
don't remember having the tip automatically charged
when I came before." She said yes. Then I asked if
they impose this to all customers. She said, "No, we
don't impose this to everyone, and not because you are
Chinese, it's because some Filipinos do not pay as
much tips as they should." I told the waitress that I
will never come back again. The next day I told my
boss and co-workers what had happened. We used to go
to Hayashi for lunch, and they also decided that they
would never visit the restaurant in the future.
