In Short – With exposed bricks and colorful knick-knacks, the Mad Raven sports a comfy vibe. There are plenty of TVs for game watchers, and local armchair brainiacs gather on Tuesday nights at 8pm to play pub trivia. Area residents and workers pop in for an after-work pint (more than 10 beers are served on tap), and there's a surprisingly cosmopolitan food menu. Popular items include Thai lettuce wraps, grilled turkey tips and grilled thin-crust pizzas.
Not Just a Pub!!!

I'm glad I came here the other night. I was expecting to hang out with a couple of golf guys after our round and have a few beers and pub food. We were surprised to find not only great pub food, but a rather extensive menu as well. The tropical chicken skewers and Sausage Pizza got us started on the right track and were great. I loved my Shepherd's Pie and one friend loved his Cape Codder sandwich while the other said his Chicken Curry was exceptional. We were told that the owner was from Ireland and by the way the bartender poured our Guinness we could tell. Check it out, you'll be glad you did.
- Pros: Fun atmosphere
Simple honest pub

While I no longer go to the trivia nights because I am saving my liver for old age, I still recommend the mad raven for general pub. They have a decent beer selection, though nothing unusual. The food is simple honest american pub food. I wouldn't eat it if I was interested in something healthy, but then heath food is not why I go to the Mad Raven. What most impresses me is the friendlyness of the bar tenders and wait staff. I am a pain in the butt customer, but I have never had a problem here. The only draw back of the place is that it is very small, so it isn't great for large groups unless you get there early to grab tables. Also, with large groups, the waiters tend to not be as attentive as they should be. All in all, this is a straight forward, good pub. I would recommend for anyone looking for that.
- Pros: Prices, Staff and Simplicity of Experience
- Cons: Small
Too bad isn?t closer to campus

I can?t really speak to this place as a restaurant at all, but I recall Mad Raven being like a right of passage for Brandeis college students to come to after they turned 21+. The Raven also used to host trivia nights when I was in college in Waltham a few years back, which were really popular. Anyway, while they had a good selection of drinks, the place was really short on space. And it wasn?t exactly within walking distance from campus during the colder months. Still, it was nice to have such a cozy pub in town.
