ice cream should not be ICY. Ice chips in my ice cream server said it was my fault because I didn't ask for a sample first! Wouldn't give me a replacement! Well, they got me by 4 but how dumb is that if I never come back?

On summer nights, loyal fans line up for a taste of the legendary ice cream..
The Scene
There's a shop in each of the big towns: Edgartown, Vineyard Haven and Oak Bluffs. You can't miss any one of them, with families, teens and couples lining up in and around each shop for a scoop. Old-fashioned white soda-shop chairs are usually hard to come by. Instead, head outside with your ice cream and stroll around the neighborhood.
The Food
An island specialty since 1971, you'll find just about any flavor under the sun from basic vanilla (which is far from basic) to fun, seasonal concoctions like Lotsa Dough or Snickers. If you need something spectacular, opt for a sundae or ice cream sandwich, made to order. The biggest: the Pig's Delight--12 scoops of ice cream, tons of toppings, hosed down with whipped cream and crowned with cherries--the works. When you finish, you might just say, "oink."
