Declining quality of sushi – I used to be a regular at Mr. Sushi, but now, as some reviews have noted, the quality of the sushi is in steady decline. I would have recommended Mr. Sushi (in Arlington) to friends as a consistent, decently priced sushi joint in the past, but lately (starting around late 2008) the sushi has become so bad that I cannot in clear conscience recommend it to anybody.
If you work in the area, like I do, and you need your fix, stay away from the maki rolls where the new sushi chef contribute to the bad taste. If you end up eating there for some reason, stick to the sashimi orders. The sashimi dishes are at least just cut up raw fish. The wise thing to do is go somewhere else to get your sushi fix.
Offers pots of sake! – Mr. Sushi has a great selection of specialty maki rolls, which for me, sets this sushi restaurant apart from the rest. The speciality rolls can get a bit pricey ($8-$14 each), but they do offer some great combo meals that give you some great deals for the speciality maki rolls.
Ok, the BEST thing about this sushi restaurant is that they offer POTS of hot sake. If you are a big sake fan, this is the place to go. Instead of ordering 3 of 4 "large karafes" of sake, Mr. Sushi allows you to purchase entire pots of sake which is great. The pots are only about 15 each and it is the equivalent of about 3 large karafes. Huge $$ saver!
The only downside to this restaurant is the ambience. It is a fairly small restaurant, so the tables are a little cramped together. I would say that is the only negative aspect of Mr. Sushi.
All in all, it is a great place to go for a great quality sushi meal, but not for a special occasion or celebration.
decent sushi, reasonable price – The sushi here is quality, but doesn't set itself apart from the number of sushi restaurants out there. What sets this place apart is the all you can eat buffets, Tuesdays and Thursdays I believe. (Each night is a different special) With this menu you can eat all you want until 9:30, from a select menu (no specialty rolls, or anything too pricy - just the basics) With the quality of ingredients, this is still pretty cool!
The other thing that sets this place apart is the parking - usually it's pretty easy to find parking somewhere, unlike many of the Boston places.
Finally, there was plenty of room, so if you want to go with a big party, or just have some elbow room this is a good place to try.
On the buffet nights, i make it an 8, on non buffet nights a 6
Delivery is fantastic – Very helpful - always fresh, great customer service. So great to have sushi delivered to my door!
Good food, even better service – This is the newer branch of the original Mr. Sushi restaurant in Brookline.
I was very impressed with the friendly and attentive service of the wait staff. Prices are reasonable and the fish is pretty fresh with a wide selection of maki rolls.
Finally, this restaurant is very accomodating to big groups and families w/ small kids.
