The Scene
This popular, modestly decorated Thai restaurant caters to a loyal clientele of area academics and expatriate families. Visitors enjoy a fresh sushi bar and extensive bar offerings (colorfully-titled house drinks like the fruity "Woo Woo"). Dutiful waiters are effective in keeping water glasses filled.
The Food
From healthy grilled fish (savory ginger-scallion salmon) to satisfyingly fried noodle dishes (sweet, crispy pad thai), the lengthy menu manages to include every popular Thai dish imaginable. Portions are exceptionally generous, and most dishes hover around the $10 mark, making this one of the area's best bargains. Finicky diners create their own curries by choosing the spice and a filling (lethal panang curry with shrimp makes for a flavorful combo). For dessert, cool off with some refreshing mango ice cream.

The thai dishes are high quality for a takeout night. Large enough portions for lunch the next day too!

This eclectic pan-Asian restaurant features an adventurous mix of Thai, Korean, and Japanese dishes. The eatery?s ultra-modern decor is like a nightclub with its vibrant colors, funky dangling lights, porthole windows, gleaming tiles and cushy booths. The hip sushi bar serves colorful house drinks like the fruity ?Woo Woo,? a mix of cranberry juice, peach schnapps and vodka. The sushi selections sparkle including the Spice & Rice Maki, a salmon, crab and avocado roll with black, red and green fish eggs. Thai standouts are the Randang Curry: chicken, bell peppers and carrots in a spicy sweet coconut sauce; and the Crispy Pad Thai: shrimp, chicken, and egg with crispy fried rice noodles. Off the Korean menu, try the Tofu Bi Bim Bab, crispy tofu marinated in red sauce with seasoned vegetables. Also good is Shrimp In The Pan, which is fish served over a fire in bubbling brown sauce with glass noodles and vegetables. End the meal with their radiant green tapioca pudding served elegantly in a martini glass.

Spice & Rice restaurant is my go-to for Thai. The creamy sauce of the Chicken Randang Curry is balanced in spiced heat and coconut sweetness. Tender chicken slices mingle with carrots, bell peppers, onions and mushrooms. A twist on the traditional is Crispy Pad Thai. The rice noodles are fried crisp and mixed with the usual ingredients of shrimp, chicken, egg, peanuts, bean sprouts and scallions. Sips of Riesling cool the curry heat and cut through the oil of the Pad Thai. They make the absolute best shumai! Not only are they much larger than the usual ones restaurants just buy in bulk and steam up, they are very generous with the shrimp. The wonton soup is my new soup-o-comfort. Large wontons soak in a savory broth that's craveable on a weekly basis.
