Excellent food and friendly service... but also ROACHES!!.
Try the fish tacos and the fajitas. They serve terrific margaritas.
Our last visit was a disappointment. I fear the review below is on target: we saw roaches crawling on the wall. Oh, well... guess we will make our own Mexican food.

Best Mexican Food in Nashville!.
This place is great. This food is excellent, the service is beyond description, and the ambience is very nice. Friendly wait staff, the best nachos ever, and margaritas that really rock! Try the vampiro with el Jimador silver. A+++!

Would you like an insect with your chimichanga?.
My husband and I have visited La Terraza several times in the past and have not (knowingly) run into any issues, until this past Sunday. I was 2/3 of the way through my chicken chimichanga when I noticed something dark in the bite I was about to have. My first thought was that it was a burnt caramelized onion. I flipped it over and discovered that my 'caramelized onion' had LOTS OF LEGS!!!!!!! A R**CH (your nasty household pest, for some reason Citysearch won't let me say the word r**ch. it is pronounced 'rowch' as in 'row your boat') was dead in my chimichanga. And this was not just a leg, or a wing, a fly or hair. I would have been a little grossed out over a hair, but comon, most people wash their hair, BUT A COMPLETE R**CH? I was completely disgusted and thank goodness I don't have a weak stomach because it was certainly a site to see. After quickly speaking to the waitress she informed me that they had fumagated the night before. Now I know two things: this place has r**ches and they're careless enough with their food and cleanliness to let a r**ch leave the kitchen in a dish. If the r**ch had been on the plate in the kitchen and removed by the cook, then fine, whatever, I didn't see it. But to let that disgusting thing in its entirety leave the kitchen and be served to a paying customer????? Just disgusting and SUPER careless. The manager never came to speak to me since I guess they were completely humiliated, but the waitress did ask if there was anything else they could do. Unfortunately, there was not since I don't ever see myself visiting this establishment again. I know a lot of kitchens have insects, etc, but that's crossing the line when you let those insects catch a ride on a chimichanga. BEWARE, CARELESS COOKS!!!

Very good food and friendly service!!.
I thought the food was very good, the frozen margaritas were delicious and our customer service was wonderful. The staff was very friendly and did not make us feel rushed at all (we had a late dinner). Will definitely go back again and recommend to a friend!

Platters of authentic Mexican sizzle in south Nashville..
In Short
Inside the somewhat depressing strip mall is a colorful atmosphere where roosters peck or a skinny cat slinks around the noisy room. At the next table, an extended Mexican family engages in debate or construction workers slurp oysters next to tony Brentwood couples sharing fajitas for two. A lively mariachi band keep this place humming. Order a margarita and enjoy hot salsa and chips while plowing through the expansive menu. Plates are generous and lavishly garnished with lettuce, pico de gallo and chunky guacamole.

Best Queso in Town.
I've tried a lot of different Mexican restaurants in town but this is my favorite. The queso dip for the nachos is extremely addictive! I've gotten several people hooked on it...once you start eating it you can't stop. It doesn't come free like the salsa...it's about four bucks and you don't get a whole lot...if you have more than a couple of people dining you may want to get two. I also love the Terraza burrito with shreaded chicken. The staff is very friendly and it's great for takeout. Love it.

recommended ... with reservations.
having lived in Los Angeles from 1997-2005, I can say La Terraza is in the ballpark as far as tasty, authentic Mexican food goes. Very good refried beans & rice, which in my book is a must. Salsas & guacamole were fresh & tasty, and "sauced" dishes like enchiladas & chile relleno were on the money. My one big gripe is that all the meats were WAY too dry. My carnitas were tragically un-moist, as were the chicken fajitas and grilled T-bone. The grilled chorizo, however, was great. Shrimp were good too, so there's hope. Friendly staff and friendly ambiance make up for the strip-mall location. I'll be back again, I'm sure.

Authentic tex-mex with a twist.
We love this place, food is great and inexpensive. The kids like it too, especialy the home made tamales- they are better than mine! Large latino clientel- the food is that good- the real deal. The large Dos XX beer on tap is less than $4 and a great go with for the chille rellenos- tasty tasty.
