Tips for Bolton's Spicy Chicken & Fish

I will never tire of Bolton's Spicy Chicken & Fish.. I have lived in East Nashville for 3 years. This is without a doubt my favorite hot chicken place in the zip code. Fish is not my favorite so stick with the chicken if you are new. Just don't insult them and ask for a second round of hotter. They will deliver and make you regret it (friend is still crying). Three sides not to miss: mac, greens, and the green beans.

Excellant Hot Chicken!. Stood in line for 90 minutes at the Hot Chicken Festival to experience the magic that is Bolton's. My friends and I hit several different hot chicken places, split up and all stood in line for over 90 minutes, and Boltons was the clear winner.

I received my chicken at about 2:30 and it was hot, freshly cooked and tasty.Their mild is a more sweet and hot taste, while there hot is a dark intense HOT spice. Incredible. The chicken was perfectly cooked, sweet, tender, juicy and they were doing the best the could considering the Hot Chicken Festival keeps getting larger every year.

They came prepared this year with 2 trucks and were the last place at the festival still serving. Amazing experience, well worth it and I am looking forward to enjoy their chicken at their restaurant . Don't base the quality of their food on the time it took at a festival that drew a couple thousand people that everyone says you will stand in line forever.

If you want hot chicken in Nashville, this is my recommended place to go.

Boton's Spicy Chicken & Fish. hahahaha... CLEARLY the person who posted right after my last review (about the hot chicken festival) is someone FROM Bolton's trying VERY HARD to make them look better since we gave them a bad review today. Listen, I really DID stand in line for almost 2 hours today @ the festival... and sirensong (the person who wrote the review right after mine) obviously did not! They were SO OBVIOUS in their review that they're one of the owners or an employee or something, who is trying to make their food seem better than it is. Like I said in my review... I understand that it's hard to keep up the pace at the festival, but if you can't manage to do that, you shouldn't be there! Prince's chicken today @ the festival was hot, delicious, and consistent with how it is at the restaurant. Their fries were also hot, and the line moved along at a steady pace (and by the way, their line was the longest line FOR A REASON!) Prince's line wrapped all the way around the park...twice...all day long! And it's because their food is phenomenal! We chose to give Bolton's a try today because we heard the chicken was good...We never go to their restaurant to try it because we also heard how horrible the service is there, & that they get people's orders wrong a lot. So, we figured that today at the festival was a good time to just try the chicken without having to deal with that other crap. Boy were we wrong! So, whoever you are (the person who posted after me on here today) stop lying to people in an attempt to gain people's business... Put that effort into improving your chicken, your service, and maybe puttin' some chairs out there to make it where people will enjoy coming to your restaurant. Everyone... you don't have to listen to me... I think the trash can out in front of the trailer today speaks for itself! It was FULL of plates that had barely been touched! That shows how bad the chicken is. And the vain attempt and OBVIOUS effort of your post proves it even more! Just work on it man,.. I'm sure you can get it to be better. But yeah, mabe you guys should not do next years festival... Give yourself some time to improve.

Best hot chicken in Nashville. Mr. Bolton served me and my Daddy and friends hot chicken for years. I've been in south Georgia for nearly two years and can't find anything like it. God Bless Mr. Bolton. PS -- You have to order late, the drunker he gets the hotter the chicken gets.

Who is the Hot Chicken Champ?. ok, so nashville is the hot chicken capital of the world according to several internet sites. my boyfriend and i kept reading conflicting reviews about these various hot chicken joints in nashville. so we decided to try them ourselves.

being from new orleans (pre-katrina) we LOVE hot food. so we tried bolton's, prince's and 400 degrees (the top 3 chicken places in tn according to most people you ask). prince's was about a 60 on a scale from 1 to 100. bolton's was about a 65. 400 degrees is a 98!!! oh my gosh! this place has the best recipe for hot fried chicken i've ever tasted. and they're nice too.

bolton's had lame fries (soggy and cold) and mediocre chicken. the mac 'n' cheese was good (a little runny) and the fish was good too. but why do people rave about this place???

East Nashville chicken shack keeps it simple with tasty Southern takeout.. In Short
Bolton's sticks to the basics: a walk-up window, a handwritten menu and no seating. Patrons place their orders then chat with other locals while they wait for their food to be delivered through a barred window. The place is a shack and takeout is the only option, but the food makes up for the lack of ambience. The hot chicken, perfectly seasoned and not too greasy, is the star of the menu.

Everybody knows. that there's only one way to make a fish sandwich, right? 1 or 2 filets of catfish (or whiting), red onion, mustard, pickle, and hot sauce on white bread. Doesn't sound hard, does it? Evidently, it's harder than it sounds, because Bolton's has the best fish sandwich in Nashville. Nobody else even comes close. The service has always been prompt and friendly, and in my past days working around east Nashville, I got to be a bit of a "regular" and they almost always knew what I was after before I even ordered. Highly recommended for anyone who likes a touch of soul in their dining.
