This place may look dingy and run down on the outside, but it's in the heart of downtown Highland and has some of the most beautiful dresses you can find in the area. I made my appointment for a weekday in the morning so it was nice and quiet. You get to pick through the gowns yourself (unlke some other stores) and our consultant was very nice. I do not recall her name, but she was tall, thin and possibly in her late 40s. She was so helpful and sweet throughout the entire process. I started with a couple gowns and once I showed her what I was looking for she knew exactly what to pick out. Unfortunately, I did not buy my dress here, but I would definitely recommend to friends. They also had very beautiful shoes, mother-of-the-bride dresses and tiaras so I may be making my way back in to look at those. =)
I am giving it a four-star only because I cannot speak about the ordering process and alterations.
WORST BRIDAL STORE EVER!!!. Elegance Wedding & Evening Wear is the worst place for a bride to go and not to worry about their wedding day attire. I purchased my wedding dress on 5.1.10 and was told that it would take 6 months to arrive. That day I also picked out my veil. I had to put 50% down which was $400. I was told that once my dress comes in, the remaining balance would be due within 30 days. With that being said, my dress came in within a month, and I received a call saying that my dress was in and I need to pay the remaining balance of $400 within 30 days. I was a bit shocked, and called the salon and managed to make a payment schedule with the manager after about 30 mins of debate on why i should be granted this. So once my dress was paid off, I was ready to take it home until closer to the wedding when it would be time to start alterations. I was then informed that I could not take my dress out, if I wanted to get it altered there, I had to leave my PAID IN FULL DRESS THERE FOR 8 MONTHS!! Needless to say, I took my dress home and I am having it altered elsewhere. So today was the last draw for me and this store. I have a bridesmaid, who is living out of the country, that was in this past weekend. I called the salon on Friday to see if by chance my girl's dresses were in, and they were. My friend went to the salon on Saturday and picked up her dress, and took it home. She asked me if there was supposed to be a shawl with the dress, and yes there is SUPPOSED to be one!! I went there today, and I was told that those dresses don't come with shawls and 3 months before my wedding, I am supposed to order them for an additional $45.00 a piece!! I was originally told that these dresses came with this shawl. I absolutely need shawls for my girls because we are getting married in an Orthodox Church, which you need to be completely covered. Bottom line is, if you are looking for a stress and carefree solution to your bridal day attire, keep looking. I would have paid hundred's more for my dress and my girl's dresses, in order not to have these problems
I just bought my wedding dress from Elegance and could not have had a better experience! I went to David's and Char's before, found several dresses and went to Elegance just to see what they had. I could not believe how many beautiful gowns were there and how reasonably prices they were! My consultant, Tammy, was very friendly and we had a great time! When I went in the second time to decide between dresses, she was just as patient and helpful.
I actually had a better experience here than at the other two places. At David's, I felt rushed and just like any other customer. Elegance was nothing I expected and everything I hoped for! Yes, you can't take the dress out of the store and bring it back for alterations, and YES you have to make an appointment for them to give you their full attention. This isn't a chain store, but the attention they give you for that 1-2 hours is SOOO much better. Plus, the dresses are better quality and more uniquely yours! I highly recommend this place!!!
THIS PLACE IS A MESS. THIS STORE IS LUCKY IT IS STILL IN BUSINESS. THEY HAVE NO CUSTOMER SERVICE WHAT SO EVER. YOU GO IN AND NO ONE SAYS ANYTHING TO YOU. THEY COULD AT LEAST SAY WE'LL BE RIGHT WITH YOU, IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO LOOK AROUND FEEL FREE TO DO SO. I DON'T KNOW WHO THE OWNER IS BUT SHE NEEDS TO GO TAKE A CLASS ON HOW TO TREAT PEOPLE AND RUN A BUSINESS. THE DRESSES ARE CRAMED IN THE RACKS AND THE RACKS ARE SO CLOSE TOGETHER IT'S HARD TO LOOK AT THINGS. I THOUGHT IT WAS A RESALE SHOP WHEN I FIRST SEEN IT. SO IF YOU WANT NICE THINGS GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. THIS PLACE IS AT 2820 HIGHWAY AVE. IN HIGHLAD, INDIANA THIS IS A PLACE THAT MAKES YOU THINK WHY DID I COME HERE IN THE FIRST PLACE..
Janice Strickland is wonderful. She helped me find the perfect dress. I went in with a picture of what I thought I wanted, and she gave me dresses just like that picture and let me realize it was not the right gown for me. She also pulled dresses based on what I told her that I liked and I was able to find the perfect dress for me!
Elegance also has shoes, accessories, tuxes, bridesmaid gown, and even invitations. I enjoyed my experience at Elegance so much that I am planning to do as much of my Wedding planning as I can through them.
I would highly recommend this Bridal Salon to ANY bride! Thank you for all of your amazing help.
ONLY INTERESTED UNTIL THEY MAKE THE SALE. I had a very similar experience there with my wedding gown and veil. I had special ordered lace that matched my dress to be attached to the edge of the veil. I went in in January--3 mos after paying everything off and after they called to let me know everything was in and the veil wasn't put together yet. So, I came back 6 mos later(!) and it still wasn't put together and they told me I'd need to MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO SEE MY VEIL and to see my dress that they could not find when I went in there to see it the first time. This is a dress and a veil I had already purchased from them and all I wanted to do was to actually see it together! Then when I agreed to make an appointment, they gave me one for 3 months away---I HAD TO WAIT THREE MORE MONTHS TO SEE A VEIL THAT HAD COME INTO THE STORE 6 MONTHS PRIOR. And, I was told that if I take the dress home so that I can actually look at it and try it on I can't bring it back for alterations. I don't understand what that matters- you still have to pay them for the alterations, you wouldn't think they'd turn down business, but they do. They were really nice when I was shopping for the dress, but have not been since. I told them to give me my stuff and I'll find somewhere more polite (and probably less expensive) to do the alterations.
One Of the Family. I had a prom nightmare at the last second i didnt have a prom dress, and my prom was less than a week away. I walk in and right away they ask me what the occasion was, what color I was intrested in and when my prom was. After they heard my whole drama story about the other store and how I made them refund my money bridal was very sympathetic and joined as a team to make sure I had the prom dress of my dreams. which I did. A am a customer forever now. They put me at ease calmed me down gave advice, they were everything i neded. Which is hard to find during prom season.
In the last three months i have had the misfortune of having to deal with elegance twice. Time after time they will take a girls measurements and recommend a dress that is way too large (2-3 sizes) charge at least half of the price of the dress to alter to a size they should have recommended to begin with.
I have been a size 8 for ten years. My own wedding dress was an 8 and I didn't have to alter it at all. I tried on an 8 at elegance for a bridesmaid dress. It fit perfectly. They then took my measurements and insisted i order a 12 or 14. They then gave me huge attitude when I told them that i was ordering an 8 since I HAD JUST TRIED ON THE EXACT DRESS IN THAT SIZE, made me sign a waiver and then lectured me like a child.
I have had positive experiences at Evas, Davids and House of Brides BUT PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM ELEGANCE
Great Experience. I had the best experience here with my wedding gown. When i first pulled up, I didn't think I would find my dress here, but don't let the size of the store fool you, the selection is phenomenal!! The staff here is curteous, flexible, and understanding. I am very indecisive, but they patiently helped me with every little decision- no matter how long it took. i had to have my dress altered twice (because i lost so much weight before the wedding!!) but on my wedding day, the gown fit PERFECT!! They even had to take in my gloves. The prices were fair, and i would definitely recommend to anyone planning their perfect wedding. Could not ask for more out of a bridal salon!!
Exceptional customer service. I recently was in Elegance with my daughter to look for wedding dresses. We didn't have an appointment, but we just wanted to look around at your selection. A consultant showed us around and provided us with information about the salon. We then made an appointment to come back on Saturday. We were promptly greeted when we came in for our appointment on Saturday, and our consultant recognized us from our first visit, and remembered what my daughter liked from the gown selection. Our appointment lasted two hours. My daughter and I have NEVER been treated so wonderfully!! Everyone was kind, patient, fun and very helpful. We didn't want to leave. Even other customers were happy, and joined in on the fun. What a great experience!! The dresses were all in bags and clean, as well as everything else in the store, right down to the guest bathroom! If you want wonderful customer service, then come to Elegance. The name stands up to the service !!!
